91 sbc swap no second port for heater core

Hello,

Trying to figure out how to plumb my heater core. My engine is a 91 sbc from a caprice classic. There is only one connection for the core since the original car had a nipple on the radiator.

Saw this online, wondered if anyone else has a different solution? My radiator is brand new aluminum. Top hose is a flex hose one from napa. Bottom is a thick (1 3/4" I believe) hose. I need the 90 degree angle for the top hose. Pointing away from the engine would make the hose need to be another 12" long, and I dont like appearance of that.

Thanks for any suggestions.

heater hoses go one hose to intake and other to top of water pump.

Is this an TBI engine? If so, look at the passenger side rear of the intake manifold and there should be a water port there for your heater core connection, along with the one on the water pump.

If there is no hose fitting on your water pump there will be a plug you can remove and install the correct fitting. I had to do the same on my tbi motor in my 63.

I had the same issue with my motor. It is a 92 TPI motor. The thermostat housing you are showing will not work. What I had to do is replace the water pump if my memory is correct out of a truck for the same year. If you have a serpentine belt system be sure and get a counter clockwise rotation pump.
