Want to revamp my AC, just need evaporator and controls
Years ago I got tired of sweating my butt off hauling the Chevelle to shows. I installed a very cost effective AC system and it has worked just great. In well over 10 years I've never even needed to add any freon.
Well, since the system was so cost effective, I ended up with an under dash evaporator. Honestly, it works great but it is an eyesore and a knee knocker. I am more than pleased with the system's function and performance, I just want to alter the system to an in-dash evaporator. I don't need it to look like original equipment, but I just don't need a new compressor, drier, condenser or hoses? Has anyone done a retrofit like this before? Can anyone recommend a company I could work with to just buy the components I need? Basically all I need is an in-dash evaporator, appropriate controls, dash vents and piping. TIA

That looks like a nice install. I'll check with them. How much of your glove box did you lose?

Re: Want to revamp my AC, just need evaporator and controls
Oh well. I'd rather not have the unit hanging under the dash so losing the glove box space is a small price to pay. I guess all I have in there is a bunch of junk anyway. I've been meaning to make a storage box for under or behind the seat anyway.

Re: Want to revamp my AC, just need evaporator and controls
This is more or less where it stands right now. Since the first photo I've added a tonneau, cowl hood, sport mirros and bed rails. Working on plans to finish the project (interior, body & paint, wood bed). It has a mild 400SB, original TH350, 12 bolt posi with 3.73 gears and is lowered some. I also added factory gauges and tach. I have all the pieces for the bed conversion and body work, just have to set a date, tear it apart and write big checks for that and the other things. Plan to add old style Torq Thrusts at some point too.
