Th 400 quit
I hauled a load of firewood, after unloading I put the longhorn in drive, and there was none. I had reverse, but no forward gears. What a bummer. I replaced filter, and checked modulator rod for movement. It seemed to be moving. So I pulled out the tranny, waiting to carry it to a buddy for a rebuild. I wish I had some warning.

What a pain in the A$$ soooo sorry to hear that I went through two powerglides (BUILT) and two th350s in my 75 swb, no wood just a 327 and 3500 stall. hope to have better luck with my 70

First thing I would do before pulling the pump is check for a stuck valve body. Doesn't sound like the catastrophic failure that would warrant a rebuild. Sounds like a valve is stuck preventing the servos from engaging the primary clutches. Just a thought...

As long as you have it out, I would rebuilt it just to have piece of mind. It isnt that expensive to overhaul a Turbo 400.
