Door lock problem, very aggravating, need help.
My drivers door lock will lock when the door is open, using the knob or the key, but when you close the door it will not lock either way. It feels like it is stuck. It's driving me nutz. I adjusted my door latch a gazillion times but it doesn't work.
Any ideas?

Stop trying, and use the key to lock it. No 67 - 72 will lock if the door is open and then closed...the lock knob will pop up as soon as it shuts. Never seen them jam up though.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY TOWTRUCK. ( WE ALL KNOW THEY WON'T LOCK BY JUST PUSHING DOWN THE KNOB & SHUTTING THE DOOR ANDY) WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED.. THE KEY WOULDN'T TURN. I FINALLY ADJUSTED THE STRIKER, & IT DID THE TRICK. JOHN

Many times the mechanism will be worn to the point where it will not lock no matter how it is ajusted....but ussally you can lock the door by pushing in on the door while turning the key

Yeah, I remember the days before I managed to get them adjusted properly. I had to give the door a little "hip check" whilst turning the key.

WITH NEW DOOR RUBBER'S THERE'S TO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE LOCK ....BACK THE STRIKER OUT.....THAT WILL FIX IT....

Ahhh, I didn't read it correctly.
The question about how do I get my doors to stay locked does come up every 6 months or so. |

Thanks guys, I went out yesterday and pushed in on the door as I tried to lock it and "click" it locked. I guess I need to put a little arse in the door until the new door rubbers settle down some.
