Gas tank options

Hi:
I have been searching a lot about gas tank option for my 67 C20. I would like to get the old tank out of my cab and also I would like to be ready for possible fuel injection set up which requires return lines. beside under the bed mount, since I have a tow hitch and spare tire under the bed, is there any other option to upgrade the gas tank? Can the tool box mounted one , the auxiliary tanks, be used as the main tank? Are they safe or legal (CA)? Also does it matter the tool box tanks sits higher than the engine? I know Fitech and Holley sell the command center or similar ones but I would like the idea of in tank pumps. Beside if I am going to spend $300-400 on those unit I prefer t spend the money on upgrading the tank. I have seen some chevy S10 and Ford rangers have fuel tanks under their bed on the outside of the frame rail. Does anybody know if they are fuel injected ready or has any dimension of them?

Just about 30 years ago I built a fuel tank to sit in the bed of a 71 4x I owned. It held 53 gallons. I sold the truck to somebody in Washington state about15 years after that. The hole was filled in in the cab. So as far as I know it may still be in use. I recently had a tank made for my 69 flatbed. It sits underneath the flatbed behind the cab in the center of the truck and I'm still keeping the cab tank. About 65 gal between the 2 tanks. The tank made for me recently was made by Ricks Tanks out of Texas. All stainless steel, included mounting straps

I did the Jeep wrangler tank, I went with this as it is baffled and you can drop in a fuel pump if you switch to LS. Boyds is a better option but the Wrangler tank is only $80. The plumbing is where you will spend the money for either setup.

Thanks for the replies. I will look in to them. Please keep them coming. Finances are not unlimited but you get what you pay for.
Does it matter the height of the Thank? If it seats above or at the engine level, as far as return lines are concern?

Return is pressurized so no worries there. As long as the fill is above the top level of the tank then you are good. Just make sure you get a baffled tank and I would highly recommend a drop-in pump, they run so much cooler.

How about if I connect my existing gas tank to a 2-3liter racing type fuel cell under the bed to submerge the fuel pump for efi as a sump and have a return line to the fuel cell? It doesn't get rid of the gas tank in the cab but it solves many of issues with reasonable cost?! The custom gas thanks are pricy.

A friend of mine is using one of these on his holley sniper injected 383 in an 86 k10

Fuel tank -> mechanical pump on block -> edelbrock sump -> holley sniper

Mounts under the hood out of the way, no modifications to stock tank etc. etc... Seems to work real well. I'm not sure how he has arranged his return lines though, that is the only part that could be a bit funky.
