Vortec 305 heads on a 307?
I was wondering if I can bolt Vortec heads from a 305 marine motor on to my 307? Does anyone know?

I'm not sure if the marine heads will work 100%, but vortec 305 heads are the best 305 heads you can get, they don't have the unique combustion chamber like the 350 vortec heads, but are a good lil head for the $$$. I've been contemplating putting a set on my caprice...

I ran the casting numbers and they are actually truck heads for a 305 so that is good. I guess more the question I was asking is like what differences should I expect here like does the 307 have a large or small combustion chamber compared to the 305 heads? Maybe they are the same I have no clue... thanks!

You should expect a boost in compression. as I remember, the 307 sb's had a fairly large chamber for a small eng (70-72 cc if memory is still working). the 305's had a smaller chamber(late 70s heads were around 60 cc's). some of the later heads were smaller yet on the chambers, but i dont have the specific info. good luck,crazyL

my 69 307 heads are 69cc chambers w/2.02/1.60 valves.
if its for peformance or will be (otherwise forget it): stock 305 heads are good for a completely stock engine, with MAYYYBE headers and a decent carb. but they dont flow very good, and the valves are small. there is no better way to go for performance than a world S/R head or the like. the 305 heaqd does add power, but once you start doing more, like a camshaft, roller rockers, good headers, ignition, and really want to biuld on what you have they will hold you back. start with good heads and a stock cam/carb. just dont go to big on springs. |

haha yeah, I don't plan on throwing any real money in a 307. I have read exceptional information about the vortec heads even outflowing many of the other aftermarket cast heads so they will be more than adaquate for my needs
