Custom 72 small rear window
Has anyone ever customized their c10 without caring about staying year correct? I am replacing my 72 swb c10’s cab and have a 67 cab to use, but no title. The 67 has a small rear window (which I personally like). I know that 72 only came with a large window, but I’m not planning on keeping it original anyway. I’m also not real concerned about resell value.

Re: Custom 72 small rear window
Lots of people go outside the given year, that's hot roddin', do what like! Now, if I had a highly optioned Super I'd have a hard time modding it.

I don't know about Florida but usually the VIN number on the title has to match the VIN number on the VIN tag on the door jamb. Yours wouldn't match that or the glove box door VIN. LockDoc

Re: Custom 72 small rear window
Someone here posted a picture of what you describe, a 71 or 72 with a 67 rear window.
Do what pleases you! I try to keep mine similar to stock if possible. I would love to go back to the original paint, but do not have that much cash right now. Bill

The first picture on this page. If you scroll down, he explains...
"My stepside is misleading being a '67 small back window with 72 front grille and bumper and 69-70 hood." That is all three iterations of our 67-72's! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=758914&page=4

Re: Custom 72 small rear window
What Leon said. You can do it but you will have trouble titling and registering it in FL. The rosette riveted VIN tag on the CAB is what matters most when it comes to DMV. Personally, I'd recommend not doing it - unless you are planning on going thru the whole DMV-issued VIN and the hoops to prove the cab is yours, because a cab is treated like a vehicle, it is what you will register if it's what is sitting on the frame you plan to drive.

Re: Custom 72 small rear window
I like it but it’ll end up like you recked a 67 and replaced it with what you could find easy

Re: Custom 72 small rear window
Go for it. I’m building a mutt also and will be using a 71 cab.
VIN plates get swapped around over time, I’ve owned a lot of old vehicles and seen it a bunch.

Re: Custom 72 small rear window
My so called '67 GMC project built from parts has a '72 cab. I'm now thinking about a Fenderside w/small window...if I find a cab. My '72 cab is rust free, so no chopping will be done on that. But it's not out of the question to simply do a top swap on your correct cab, if you have no other alternatives to show correct VIN-plate to go with title.
