1965 C10 - First Old School Build

Well the time has come for me to attempt a build thread. I have spent many years in the "import scene" but always had a lot of love for cars in general especially old C10's. This is my second vintage vehicle with my first being a 1963 Impala 4 door that was sold at a mistake of my own as a young boy.

So here we go! Back in August of 2017 my search for a 63-66 C10 finally ended. I picked up a truck that had been sitting in a field in Kentucky for many years for a good price. I had a few stipulations with the purchase which included: swb, 3 on the tree truck, and must have title (haha) So on with the pictures.

Here it is loaded up on the trailer and the interior:

Details:
1965 SWB
283 Motor
3 on the tree
TONS OF RUST

Plans:
Patina look (paint to match the cab)
Replace Rockers
Replace Floor Pans
Fix all of the electrical issues (headlights, taillights, wipers, cluster, heater)
Air Ride
etc. etc. etc.

Truck made it home safe and sound:

So once home I started with making it safe! I replaced the full suspension including tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints, shocks, rear springs, trailing arm bushings, wheel bearings, and rebuilt all of the drum brakes. Then it was time to bring the motor alive!

Up in the air to make it safe

Now time to make it run a little better:
Eldebrock Carb
Eldebrock Intake
New Exhaust
HEI
Fresh fluids and gaskets all around
New Heater core (was full of a rats nest)
Cleaned and painted heater box

Current State of the motor:

More pictures and progress to come

Re: 1965 C10 - First Old School Build

Thank you Captain Fab, it's come a long way but still has a long way to go!

A few more updates before I head off to the Lake.

Bed was empty so got some plywood, cut it and sealed it. Not bad for $40

CPP Track Bar and shock relocation with 2600 bags:

Cupped my front control arms this past winter; so thankful for the warm weather again:

He has made some amazing progress and the air ride is done and the truck finally made it to it's first car show locally. About a 15min drive both ways but he did great. Oh and his name is Willy. My kid's named him because the first day I got it running I was pulling it into the driveway the front wheel came off. Gotta love kids!

Re: 1965 C10 - First Old School Build

Now that the air ride is all figured out it's time for some additional fun.

Covert the cluster from dummy lights to full gauges
Finish restoring C60 Grill
Install CPP From Sway Bar
Start the painting and sanding process.

I need to have the truck "done" (lets be honest we are never done) by October for our Wedding Reception for pictures.

After the wedding I plan to spend the money for a front disc conversion, drop spindles, and ditch the cupped lower control arms. Maybe if I can find some decently priced go with some tubular control arms. Lots of money to spend, lots of labor to do, lots of beer to drink, not a lot of time.
