Re: Alternator Dilemma Without OEM Manifolds

Re: Alternator Dilemma Without OEM Manifolds

Well this will work, see picture, too bad Seller did not explain the "poor repairs" done to arched bracket!

I miss that this was repaired, welded, & not very well.

Bottom of bracket that bolts to block (in two pictures provided), is not drilled straight, and/or bent, and barely allows correct bolt to slide thru.

I am very disappointed. For what I paid, I thought it was an OEM bracket that was NOT repaired and ready to use. Returning to Seller for refund.

Could someone explain "WTB?"

Next option is buying from CPP as we know what I got from POL, (and still no reply). I added a picture to compare what I got from POL to this OEM 3951337 bracket.

I need subscription then can be placing a WTB (want to buy) ad in the parts section here. I should have listened to earlier advice, & pursued this option.

I also asked a GREAT parts Supplier (Todd68chevy) of vintage old GM truck parts about this too. Looks like he may just have what I have needed and forgot to ask him directly.

Re: Alternator Dilemma Without OEM Manifolds

Finally heard back from POL, third time was the "charm," and worked-out returning what didn't fit "Blue."

I shared my "thoughts" on subject, with pictures in email, and was open to just maybe there was another way to use the bracket they provided. Refund appears to be the answer here.

And Todd hooked me up with a salvaged OEM 3951337 bracket that is on its way to me now.

Re: Alternator Dilemma Without OEM Manifolds

Hello DJ_baar. Sorry this didn't work out for you. Originally we only sold the alternator bracket with out the adjuster. We since had a few ask about the adjuster brace. We mentioned it located off the manifold and would need to be bent or have a jog put into it to fit properly. After looking at the pictures you emailed us, we can see how the adjuster brace you are referring to would work better. We have located one and will see how it works once it is received. Originally, this was a universal kit, not a factory replacement kit. I have attached a pic of how we intended it to work and how we used it on our '66 Nova and '63 Biscayne.

Thumbs up Re: Alternator Dilemma Without OEM Manifolds

If I could have got that picture you have here in email correspondence we had when I asked about how to make it work, I would have tried that before returning to you late today. But as it is, I have an OEM part coming that should work.

I was not looking for an OEM replacement part, just a bracket that would work for me with my custom rebuilt 355 Gen I SBC with power steering pump below (on Driver's side), and A/C compressor on Passenger side.

Thank you for working this out with me. I do not know what happened to first couple times I tried to contact POL, (with your online contact form,) but third time was a charm. Communication is key to good Vendor sales and working-out details that may simply be a misunderstanding (Customer or Vendor). Thank you for getting back to me.
