fuel injection conversion?
anyone ever put fuel injection system on a 69-72 blazer? i've heard of guys taking TPI's or TBI's off newer trucks and putting them on older trucks but I was wondering what the best and or cheapest way to do it would be if anyone cares to disscuss it.

I put Holley's ProJection 2d on the Foxy years ago. It's a TBI unit, easy to install and works well. It's tought to tune right, but once it's there, it stays there. When I bought the Fox, it had a worn out 350 with a flat cam, and would get up to 10 mpg. I rebuilt it into a 383, and put the ProJection on, hoping to get better mileage. I've gotten up to 17, but usually 9. Too much city driving, I guess. Looking back, I'd say it's a good way to go for 2wd. I figure a carb is simpler and for a 4x4 in the sticks, the less electronics, the better.

Bobby K has TPI on his K5. He has reported getting decent gas mileage.

I'm sure 343 gears instead of 373's would make a huge difference. My stroker has enough torque where I wouldn't lose performence either.

i had an Accel multipoint DFI system in my 69 1/2 ton but i never took it to the Accel dealer to have him program it for my engine. it was also outdated so it was tough connecting it to a computer that it would work on. it still ran good but not nearly as good as what i could have got out of it if i had tuned it.
so my advise is to make sure what you buy runs off of windows and if you want to get the most out of it, take it to your local dyno shop and have them tune it to your exact engine specs. i recently purchased the holley commander 950 conversion kit to replace the accel but havent installed it yet. (its going in the 72 blazer) the shop thats going to tune it had already been working with that system on previous cars so ill also save some labor time cuz theyll be familiar with it. so you also might want to consider talkin to whoever is going to tune it before purchasing.

That's good advice. The Holley 2D doesn't need a computer. The 4D and Commander series do. The old Holley systems were analog and had to be tuned frequently with altitude and weather. I've had the Fox high and low, wet, dry, hot, and cold. It's a really good unit. Rated at 650 cfm, though. I wish it were a 750.
