Tires rubbing inner fender
Hey guys. I lowered my truck 4.5/6 and I like the look but I’m rubbing the front fenders so now I’m looking for options. I know I could just pull the fenders out all together but don’t want all the road grim all under the hood. I looked in to something like Sloshtubz but I have factory air and I’ve already spent a lot of money on it lately so don’t want to have to redo the a/c and hood hinges. So I’m leaning toward a smaller tire. I’m running 17” rims. I don’t remember the tire size but I know they are 27” tall. Is anyone running a 25” or 24” tire? I just don’t want it to look to small in the wheel well. I might just put taller springs and raise the front end up but I hate to do that. So maybe bags to lift it when I’m riding? Anyone had a similar issue? Thanks

Re: Tires rubbing inner fender
What’s the width of your tire/wheel combo?

17x8 front 17x 9.5 rear. I should have looked at the numbers on the tires before posting. I’ll try to go up to the shop to tomorrow and get the exact tire size.

Re: Tires rubbing inner fender
With 8" up front and low enough that there is only about 4" or less clearance between the lower A arms and the pavement, rubbing will happen on even minor road bumps unless you always slow down.
My 75 Jimmy did the same, so I tried some adjustable coil spacers from Napa, really good quality part, and lifted the front just 1/2" and no more rubbing when driving normal. Only $10 a pair, definitely worth a try. |
