Exclamation I FEEL PRIVI LEDGED !!!!!!

I LIVE IN NORTH ALABAMA AND ITS PRETTY MUCH RURAL COUNTRY AND THERE ARE A TON OF OUR TRUCKS AROUND HERE. A LOT OF THEM ARE STILL IN USE ON THE FARM. YESTERDAY I SAW 3 OR 4 FOUR SALE ON THE SIDES OF THE ROAD. THERE ARE ALSO SEVERAL SALVAGE YARDS LOADED WITH PARTS. IT'S LIKE CHEVY HEAVEN !!!!

I grew up and lived south of Birmingham, AL until about 5 years ago (Georgia now). My parents are still there. When I first started looking for a 67-72 pickup, my Dad and I just drove around for a few hours one afternoon on the lookout. We saw over a dozen, several in tremendous shape. Parts aren't difficult to come by either - we did have to look a little bit to get a 3.08 rear end (most were 3.73), but I ended up finding one about 5 miles from my folks.

There are tons still running around Georgia as well.

So, here's what you do:

1. Build a big shop that can act as a warehouse.
2. Buy all the trucks, and parts you can find.
3. Make an inventory list.
4. Strike up a relationship with UPS.
5. Publish the list here.
6. Start taking parts orders from us.
7. Make a bundle of $.

Common! Share the joy!

Hey Vnmous.....havent seen you on the board in a while.

Just one North Alabamaian (Athens) saying HEY! to another (Leighton).

Lots of "spare parts" trucks around here too. But most folks know what they have and won't "part them out." But we still have a few salvage yards that still have a good selection.

Quite a few around here. Within about an 8 mile radius of my house I think I know of about 8 I think. Might be more. I know that one of those got sold and haven't been able to track it down yet.

Another one nearby a kid at school (dont worry... good kid, good driver, take good care of it) is considering buying an Orange 68. So my 72 Ochre Cheyenne might not be the only one in the school parking lot.

Also, dont mean to sound weird but I believe trucks shouldn't be parted out unless the body has nothing left at all. Whenever trucks are parted out another Chevy dies (the tears are comin, I better quit now)

On the other hand when trucks are parted out it makes original parts availible to help another Chevy stay Chevy. But the same parts could be bought new.
Just some thoughts to think about.
