Totaled 2003 Caddy SLS leads to 2002 Z71 Reg Cab Shortbox

Well, the son drove my rusty old Caddy into a flooded intersection last month, so we went on the hunt for a quality truck, for me, but he can drive it.

Found this one sitting behind a GM dealership on a Sunday night a couple weeks ago. There was grease marker on the window with someones name on it and a date. Hoping it wasn't sold, I went to the dealership at 0730 the next day and waited for the used car department to open at 0800. I asked the first salesman I saw if it was for sale and he said "No, it was traded in yesterday for a newer Silverado." I asked why it wasn't for sale, and the salesman said "They couldn't give the original owner what he wanted so they worked with him to find a local used car dealer to give him the money he was looking for." Being the smarta$$ I am, I said "Well, I'm here and will pay cash for it!!!" The salesman said "Hold on, I have to go to a sales meeting and I'll ask about it." He came back about 30 minutes later and said "Money talks!" So, I gave them what I thought was reasonable based on all the ones I'd looked at across Iowa and down south on Craigslist. We got the original owner on the phone and he said "He and his wife had come up from the S. MO to see his daughter and decided to buy a new truck while he and his wife were in town. According to the owner, the truck belonged to his wife and he didn't drive it much. He also said he didn't want to trade it and wanted to make it his farm truck, but his wife said "No way!!" I felt bad for a couple days!!!!

Congratulations on the new to you truck. It looks like you found a pretty nice one. Looks much better without the cap too.
