My 83 GMC C1500

I have got my self a new truck. An 83 C1500 with a 305 and a th350. I am replacing the 305 of a nice 350. Its a 96 vortec block with standard size pistons, GM 441 heads, high pressure oil pump, comp cams 268 cam and lifter, with a eldelbrock RPM performer intake (right now there is a Weiand single plane highrise) and some flowtech long tubes. . I also pulled the front end off of a 76 k10 to swap. I need to replace the window regulators, and the bed. I am a replacing the ugly alloys with some original steelies. Also snagged a new seat. All the parts came from my brothers mud truck that hes going a different route with. I need to replace the windshield. Here are a few pictures.

I dont know if I am going to keep the carb on the engine or use the Q-jet that is on the 305?

Re: My 83 GMC C1500

In preparation for the engine swap, I picked up a new torque convertor seal since the original was not holding oil in the trany when I drove in home. I also got some new door pins to fix the drivers door. I am going to pull the truck in the garage here soon and start marking and disconnecting everything to swap the engine and front end. I want to remove the windshield and swap it out and repair the door windows before the weather changes soon. Is there a repair kit or parts for manual windows or is the best option to replace them?

Re: My 83 GMC C1500

Today a friend of mine picked up a free bed and tailgate, since it was located in the town he lives in he grabbed it and drove it down to me.
My plan is to use the bed sides. I have finally got all the parts I need to swap the engine so i am going to start that here soon.

Re: My 83 GMC C1500

Well I have been busy for a while but today I yarded out the old 305 and drop in a lightly ran 355. I ditched the long tubes for a set of shorties and swap the single plane intake for an eldelbrock RPM performer. While I had the 305 out I replaced the torque convertor seal since it quit holding oil in. I also cleaned up the wiring and removed the electronic spark control since the distributor was replaced awhile ago. The A/C tube that goes from the dryer and connects to the hose for the compressor was kinked before I got it so I will have to replace that. But all in all its coming along. Once I get it running since its at my dads I will bring it home and replace the windshield, DS door pins and work on the interior. Heres the new engine in there.

Here is me and my brother getting the motor studded in. Im up top and hes down below.

Re: My 83 GMC C1500

Thanks Whamo, not much has been done lately. I got the engine and radiator in. I have to swap over the accessories and finish that kind of stuff. It fired right up and runs good. It has been at my dads shop for the last 3 months since I have been laid up from back surgery. But I am going to bring it home here soon so I can work on it after work. After I get the engine stuff figured out I'm going to work on cleaning up the interior.
