Np203 oil

77 k10 TH350 with a NP203 transfer case.
what oil is supposed to be in the transfer case? I was told 10w-30, but the oil in it currently smells more like a rear end oil and is much thicker feeling then 10w-30.

Re: Np203 oil

Motor oil, a lot of 203's have gear lube in them from being serviced (incorrectly) over the years but you should use motor oil, gear lube is too thick.

Thanks, that's what I had been seeing online when I dug deeper. I was just asking here to make sure I was correct. More then likely im gonna drain it out and replace it with 10w-30.
