Question I want to refinish under the hood in the correct color scheme, but ...

.... but it's hard telling what is original from just looking at everyone's photos because they all vary.

So, I'm thinking the Fenderwells, hood hinges and front radiator support and hood latch should be black .... probably a satin black color (correct me if I'm wrong). What about the firewall, should that be black or body color? How about the insides of the fenders?

Thanks!

Satin black sounds right for the areas you listed as well as the inside of the hood. My firewall & cowl still have the original body color on them, same with the insides of the fenders. '72 K20.

I don't know about 'correct' but you could leave the fenders, grill and upper firewall/cowl all body color, then paint the rest your satin black including the core support and hood latch stuff. That would look pretty slick IMO.

LOTS of folks in the Corvette restoration business (picky picky picky folks) use off-the-shelf Rustoleum Satin Black - 7777 that one can buy at Home Depot.

Mixed 8-4-1 (paint, acetone and enamel hardner)

1 tack coat, allow to flash followed by 2 medium coats.

This is THE paint:
http://medallionrefinish.com/product...rylic-urethane

Basically, the inside of the fenders are body color and the rest of the parts are satin black.

I thought I had better pictures of my truck already uploaded. But these are the best I have right now.

I wanted to add, I like what they did to your truck by painting everything white. Too many are spray bombed black under the hood like mine was.
