I work full time for the South Dakota National Guard. I'm a supply tech on my full time side, but a Track Vehicle repairer (63H) for the weekend side (the same job I would do if I got activated). I'm not waiting for "if" I get activated. I'm waiting for "when".

Holy cow...another P-3 guy. I did five years at VP-5 in Jax from AA to AE2(AW) (E-5) (Aviation Electritions Mate), deploying on perdiem to Italy and Iceland.

I like to tell boat guys that I saw a boat once....I was riding the fairy to mainland Italy to go skiing up north and there she was, DDG-59 (i forget the name) haze gray and underway. Boat guys hate that

(yes I know its a "ship")

On a side note, I rode my bike with veteran plates to a ball game today and when i pulled up a guy stopped looked at the bike for a minute, complimented my on the paint job, noticed the plates and asked if I was a veteran, I said "yes, sir" (he was an older fellow) He reached out, shook my hand, said thank you for your service and walked off.

I've never had anything like that happen to me before, felt pretty damn good

I know what you mean, bunch of us were having lunch at a resturaunt here in Tacoma the other day, wearing our BDU's. Had several people approach our table and thanked us. Makes me very proud to wear the uniform.

I was in the Navy in the SeaBees as a Construction Mechanic(diesel mechanic) 8 years reserve. I did mechanic work, I maintaned the PM software for all the equipment in Alpha Co., I was a radio man during combat training and if we ever got activated(which means I stood next to the LT and usually would be the 2nd one to get shot.)

Retired Army, 72-92, finished as a signal type. Now work as a DoD contractor doing a similar type of work as when I retired (satellite communications). Travel alot (world wide), seem to use that as the reason that I don't get the truck finished. Need someone to come kick me in the butt to get me motivated again. One good days work and it would move again.

Chevyhouse, I am with VP-1 out of Whidbey Island, WA. Soon to be leaving the squadron and going to be out of Diego Garcia for a year.

I have had a few people come up to me and thank me for what we do. It makes me very proud everytime I hear it.
