75 Dually build

Day two update. So I did not change the pump out. I called a good friend of mine who is a Cummins expert and he came over this afternoon. We wheeled the truck outside and then started working on the timing and some smaller tuning items. In the end he felt the original pump was perfect and made great power, so pump number 2 goes on the shelf for now.

All the smoke was just the assembly lube and once we got it hot and let it run for a while the smoke cleared up, and after we played with the timing a bit that motor really started to impress us. Great response time and no turbo lag. Can't ask for better than that!

I need to button the front end back up, and get some other small items finished. Then I finally get to go for my first test drive! Been a while since this girl has been on the road...

Kinda nice to see it go from that first time I brought her home to this stage, but don't worry I have some cool plans for LST! OH YEAH!!!

Thanks for hanging in there all this time! Those Facebook and Instagram posts were a blast. My buddy was a huge help in getting it fine tuned, but man all that smoke burning off all the assembly lube! Killed a lot of mosquitoes!!

My wife almost did not let me in the house smelling like the back side of a truck!!

Thanks! So I have not shown the pics of the exhaust, well because it's an exhaust... Anyways! I used that big Detroit bus muffler and it was a perfect fit, but a couple buddies who have been over to see it say to take it out and just run a straight pipe all the way back. I doubt it is going to raise the noise level in the cab much, and it should help it breath much better! #gladidontliveincali #texaslovescustomtrucks

Even with that big bus muffler it sounds nasty! Once I get it road worthy I can't wait to start tuning it better and maybe even turn it up a bit. Gotta be careful because it has that Dodge tranny behind it, and they are like a grenade with the pin pulled... It's not if it will blow, it's just when it will blow up!

I got to drive it today! Whoo Hooo! Man this is a fun truck again.

It was covered in 10 layers of Lubbock dust, so I went and fueled it up and then took it straight to the car wash. So glad to see all that crud gone. She needs a lot of small cosmetic attention, but at least I got to drive it! The power is so nice. I'm trying to be easy on it for a while, but I did get on it a couple of times just to see if it was all systems go. I've got a couple of small things to tweak, but should have it mostly ready by this weekend.

Wait until you see what is next! Oh this is going to be fun!!

Yes you do! It's the teething issues I could do without, but it is all just mechanical stuff so it can be fixed and made better. Just trying to make it all reliable to make it out to Dino's Git Down in a couple of weeks.

Been quite a while since my last post. However I have been working on the truck quite a bit lately. First I tried hard to get it ready for Dino's get down, but an electrical short in the old harness left me grounded... Yeah a cruddy pun if there ever was one... The show was amazing. My wife flew into Phoenix, I was already in Phoenix for a company function, and we had a great time at the show.

So once I got back home I bought a 21 circuit harness and pulled the old one out and did a complete replacement. It was a Speedway kit that I would use again and recommend. So with most of the wiring sorted out (there were a couple of circuits that gave me fits, but they were all my fault! Ah well I got them sorted out soon enough...) This kit is amazing because all the wires are labeled ever 5 inches or so, and that made a world of difference. The kit came with everything I needed and then some.

As you can see below I got new gauges. The speedo is really cool, it measures your speed by GPS so no more cables! Just 3 wires and a GPS small cable that runs to a small pod that I have placed on top of the dash right under the window. That thing is amazing! The other 4 gauges I got off eBay and they were spec'd out to my sensor requirements. So far I really like them. I have not taken them out driving yet but they so far look great and seem to function very well. Best part was the price. If you ever see me at a show ask me how much they were and where they came from. It is a great story...

There is a lot in store for the truck over the next 2 months. I won't reveal much of it until LST because it is going to be a surprise. I might give a hint here and there, but the main reveal will be at the show. Soooo...

Thanks for hanging in there. I have been working on it day and night when I have not been traveling for work. This cold snap has not been helpful though, but we will pull through it...

As far as hints go I'm not releasing anything yet, but really soon I will drop a ton of stuff! Ok I will give one thing away... This is all cosmetic. With the engine done and running fairly well the truck really needed some serious sprucing up. So thats all for right now. Trust me it is killing me more than you to not release all the new stuff, but I hope it will be worth it. Check out my Instagram for the info as well @75dually

I have been working my fingers to the bone lately to get the truck ready for LST, and I have not had a chance to even think about doing regular updates. I would like to introduce you to the #75Dually2.0!

The blue is gone... (no haters please...) the new color is matte white with a silver pearl in it, and several carbon fiber accents along with the new hood stripe.

I am writing this tonight on our way to LST. The truck ran amazing, and we pulled down 15.5 mpg.

I will post up a lot more over the next couple of days. I plan on covering the roof rack build and some of the wrap, but you have already seen that before so I won't bore you with all the details. Oh yeah and the wheels got some serious paint. 1970 Chevy mustard yellow. They look so cool in my book, again no haters!

I definitely like the gold wheels with the white. The sleeper looks good on there too. The roof rack..... I'm not sure about that one yet. You do like to push the envelope though.

Well said sir! Yeah that rack is going to push it a bit, but at least no one else will have one just like it!!
