Truck 4 speed to car 4 speed..

Thinking about taking out my truck 4 speed in my white 68 and putting in a muncie. What I'm wanting to know is are the splines on the in-put shaft the same from the truck 4 speed to the muncie?....can I use the same clutch? Thanks!!

Douglas.

Not all M22's were fine splined. Also, 71-72 Muncies had fine input and large fine output, but they weren't M22's, they could be had in M20 and M21 versions.

What was the 4-speed that is coming out of your truck? I am guessing a Saginaw. It should be direct bolt in. You will have to change your shifter linkage though, that will not bolt up.

Just a side note......

If you don't already have a Muncie, be prepared to shell out some cash for one. I saw some at a local swap meet a couple weeks ago and they were going for at least $500 for a complete used one (not rebuilt).
