1982 4X4 frame question

Hey............Does anyone know if a two-wheel drive complete cross-member will fit on a four-wheel drive frame. Both frames are 1-ton crewcab dually. And also, are they different year to year. My truck is a 1982 two- wheel drive and I found a '76(or so) four-wheel drive frame which I want to swap. would I have to change anything else like the steering box etc..
