Water pump heater connections?
Just changed out the 180* hose on the heater nipples and after adding the hoses for the heater the 3/4 pipe is leaking at the connection with the aluminum pump.
What is the correction for this, besides changing out the water pump? Is this just pressed in, if I remove the nipple what is the replacement besides a AN hose and threading the pump?

Think I'd just cchange the pump...those are pressed in I believe....you could possibly tap it to npt...I think I saw someone do that before....

They are just a press fit. You can tap to npt if you so desire. I did on mine and am using AN fittings.

I had to pull out the stock fittings and weld 45 degree aluminum fittings to mine so it would clear the hotside on my setup.

 I have tried pulling them out and twisting them out with no luck. I got them out by cutting them nearly flush and collapsing the tube with a cold chisel. Once you get a piece of the tube to lay over, you can drive the tube out the back side of the hole. The holes the tubes come out of are oversize to a NPT pilot by about .030-.050". I went ahead an tapped them anyway with a 1/2" and 3/8' NPT tap and ran it all the way to the end of the tap. Because the hole is oversize to the pilot diameter the threads won't be fully formed for the full length, I suspect they may leak. I'll probably put the fittings in with JB weld to backstop against that happening |
