Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

Well, I can see how they have that kind of money wrapped up in the truck. I would do without the upper trim if what that was my only other option (propably has holes under it and this stick-on trim saved alot of welding them up or paying alot for the proper trim).

Either way, I can let it go without malice, but here is a quote from the actual add...

"CHECK OUT THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL CHEVY RALLY WHEELS".

Slap me if I am wrong, but those are not "ACTUAL ORIGINAL CHEVY RALLY WHEELS" for 1970.

Looks like somebody is trying to flip a truck on a budget.

Good luck to them, seriously, It is a nice looking truck (besides the trim) and those are one of my favorite wheels for our trucks.

Something is off about that truck, but can't quite put my finger on it. Ok guys let me in? Is it the Side molding?

I wouldn't say off, but I would say lots and lots and lots of customizations. It looks nice.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

Looks like your typical LMC catalog throw together job riding the high 67-72 price wave. I see three things I don't like on the front end, but don't want to get involved in cutting on the truck. It's not what we do here. I will say "Coulda gotten the passenger headlight centered in the opening". That speaks to me of the level of quality to expect.

The bowtie has been removed from the hood. On the 70, you have CHEVROLET on the grill, but this has the 67-68 grill with the bowtie. The front bumper is from a 71-72. You can tell by the turn signals in the bumper.

EDIT: A couple other things. Don't know if these are different options or what. On my 70, the 'egg crate' of the grill is black. So is the area around the headlights. They are chrome on this truck.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

I posted this to show what you might not want to do when building a truck. Maybe you don't need two sets of turn signals in the front unless you're going for that National Lampoon look, maybe stick to molding that's year appropriate, and maybe just maybe realize that rally wheels didn't come out until 1973 for Chevrolet trucks (although they look great). Again this is only my opinion and I didn't mean any disrespect.

If I don't see rust, it's hidden under new paint! I've become leery of all things with new paint! The whole car and house flipper craze is really drawing out the charlatans.

Be on your "A game" when you buy something at top price!

Meh, to each their own. That's the nice thing about these trucks you can customize them any way you like to.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

^^^ True. But then there is the question what did that make it worth? This doesn't appear to be a truck someone fixed up to suit their taste. This looks like a truck fixed up to flip using whatever makes it shiny.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

The side molding would look better if in the correct spot. On the lower part. As for the grill. I actually kinda like it. Not original but not to bad.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

Wheels are missing the 3" beauty rings. looks like the wheel was painted bright silver or chromed?
That's no $25,000 truck that's for sure.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

If you study the EBay information, you might be able to pull some thoughts form there. Look at the pictures, then you can draw a few conclusions on how this is being sold. For one, look at the feedback rating... Put that together with your own knowledge base about these trucks. It becomes rather apparent what is going on...

Just trying to help a potential buyer out.

Flippers hate me at the car shows...

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

I see lots of things that are not right about the truck, but that's between the buyer and the seller. I just don't like bashing other people stuff. I hope he gets the money he asking. It is worth what ever the buyer pays.

It's actually a 69-70 reproduction grill(no letters) with the bowtie in the wrong spot( as you stated) as it should be on the hood. The 71-72 bumper No contrast in the grill and headlight bezels.

Also the side trim is actually cheap roll out trim made for 81-87 squarebody Chevys.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

I wonder if it sold and what he got for it. Like he said it has a few slight mods to it. Maybe they are what he likes. He's not misrepresenting it. It has mods. I don't mind that at all. I just don't think it's worth anywhere near 25g.
Myself, I would not buy any old vehicle someone else fixed up and give big money for. At least by someone I didn't know. I mean, just how many Fooses are there out there?

I beg to differ on that statement. I won't let a fool or fools set my standards. Plenty of fools with more money than sense these days. The hard working people with good sense on average pay get screwed by that mentality. New trucks cost as much as some houses and the old ones are overpriced due to popularity. I remember when an ambitious guy could pull himself up by his boot straps into running a successful business starting out with a just a cheap truck and hard work. Or, manage to gather up a down payment for a new one and bust his butt to make the first payments until the money started rolling.

If someone is willing to pay that outrageous price for that truck it is worth it to them. I understand hard work. It has nothing to do with my statement.

Re: Horry Shet Baatman!

Adding "to them" makes it a different statement that I'd agree with. Still works with my fool statement, too. A fool and his money are easily parted, right?

I never insinuated you didn't know hard work and none of what I said was directed toward you. My statement was targeted to the issue of the general fact that trucks, which originated for the purpose of work, are being priced out of reach of those who "need" them by those who "want" them, worsened by those who know no better. One truck sells to a fool for stupid money, then others base their pricing on that. It doesn't take much to see that is what has been happening.
