Re: 67 GMC super custom build
That's pretty cool what you got going on there! I like it. Colour looks way better with the illumination on.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
When the lights are on it looks pretty much spot on. Now that I have it done I may not bother with trying to make it perfect. I have it straight now and I may not get it that good again.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Since I was into the gauges I thought I wanted the clock in the dash to have the same font as the gauges so I did this. Now it will look factory even though it's not.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I bought these red 72 door panelsfrom a big truck and I'm Thinking about using them. I would mount my switches from the underside ( 64 cadillac style switches) on the flat edge of the panel so I need to have these squares for the switches cut out by a machine to make sure they are sharply cut and square. I will put my door lock switch where the window crank used to be and cover the wood grain piece with vinyl.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I added green led bulbs to my dash pieces. I love the way this looks. Looks a bit clearer in person. There not too bright but It's just too bad they don't dim like factory intended them to. I also took a pic with white ones. They don't seem as bright.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
That's weird that they don't dim. I have leds in my 04 dome light and they dim with everything else.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
The instrument lights dimmer in a '67 GM truck was designed to dim a higher current draw than what the LED's draw. Mine in the Burb dim slightly and then go out.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I opted to keep the a.i.r. Injection on the 327 but I devained the pump so it not operational. Today I figured out how to plug the manifold holes without ever knowing. The hole is the perfect size to tap for 1/8" pipe thread. I took 8 1/8" brass Allen key plugs and put them in. Just tap it from the front so it seats at the lowest point in the hole and then it's plugged. Now put the air tubes on and done. Looks completely functional and you can go back to making it functional if you ever wanted to.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Did my power windows and locks switches in the 72 door panels today. I like this much better and looks cleaner. The woodgrain will be covered with bright red vinyl to match the panel.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Looks good. I was just thinking, why is there 4 switches for windows then remembered, oh yeah power vent windows. So are the two front ones for the vents and the back two for the doors? Also does the passenger have control over their vent window or just the driver?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Yes the passenger will be able to control both for the passenger door. . That a job for this afternoon. The sideways switch is for vents and the other horizontal one is for door glass.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I got a set of Nos left and right dual exhaust mufflers parts 3861811 and 3861812. They have 2.5" inlets and 2.0" outlets. I think everything gm put out had 2.0" outlets in these years. They are correct for 64 327 with high performance (not special high performance). The engine I'm using is a 64 327 300hp so I may use them. My original truck motor will stay on the stand. Not too much original about this truck any more anyways.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
The 300hp used an afb carb from factory and I wanted to keep it looking stock with a 4jet. Now since my original 4jet was small and was really for the original 220hp engine I had a new 4gc custom built for my new built 327 specs and added the turbo 400 kick down throttle arm to this carb. It has the base of the 409 340hp carb to match the 300hp 327 intake design. It's not as stout as the 409 carb though. It will be more suited for a small Cid engine. I'm going to send it out to get the body recolored soon. I may use the original 2.5" exhaust manifolds that were on the 300hp engine and not put the smog pieces on the engine.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
The gm page shows what the mufflers are correct for. I wonder how quiet and restrictive these will be. There heavy. Wish they sound like a turbo muffler.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Great build you’re doing! I just finished reading all of it over the past couple days.
You will really like the Twilight Sentinel, it is one of my favorite things about my Cadillac. The caddy has an additional post-shut off functionality, if you leave a turn signal on, it turns on that side’s cornering light also. Not sure how you can use that, but you’re pretty creative. The Guide-matic is cool too, but the road signs are very reflective now vs the 60s. The lights tend to dim when the signs reflect back at you. Otherwise, it is a very slick system and works great as designed. I never thought to join a switch pitch 400 and a Gear Vendors, what a great combination. I’ll take that over a 700R4 any day. Keep after it!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
That's interesting how the signs have changed. I never thought of that. Totally makes sense. I have thought about cornering lights as my turn signal switch has the wiring. I would like to somehow put a lens in the front of the 67 68 body mouldings so it doesn't disturb the body lines but not sure if I'll get that crazy.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I bought a transmission oil cooler for the truck. With the variable pitch converter I wanted to make sure it won't get too hot. It's made for 1971 mopar cars. I like that it has thread fittings instead of hose and clamps. Going to mount it in front of the air conditioning condenser.
