Brake job 101

Hello

Took off the front tire and this is what I found. I guess torching front hub off is easier than removing the rivets that hold brake drum in place.

It took me a while to figure out the picture. Looked like the hub was rusted but after looking, it seems that is part of the drum that is rusted onto the hub. If you remove the hub you should be able to press the studs out and get that apart or the part is just junk and might need to find another hub which would probably be a lot easier.

You could also remove the hub and soak it in penetrating oil for a few days. More then likely it can't be save but you will never know unless you try.

Hello

I think the hub can be used. It had sat in a Texas barn since 1987. I think when the guy I bought it from moved the truck this side was locked up so it only natural to torch the drum off to get the car rolling again to get it In on the trailer. ��

Have you considered just swapping it all out for 73-87 power disc brakes?

Possibly later model accessories and or engine. I have a '74 350 in my 66, alternator is on the right. Same with my '85, alt on rt, a/c on left.

Hello

Yes they are! Apparently the previous owner decided that he was going to use newer parts to replace worn out ones? So, he has cobbled up the wiring harness and none of it makes any sense. He also put on a long neck water pump and new style pulleys that do not line up. The owner died then it sat out on a farm in Texas for over 30 years

Good news I bought correct pulleys and brackets and compressor to put them no back original. Any pictures of original ac set up greatly appreciated

That accessory drive configuration is '69+ car and '73+ truck. Typically when an engine is swapped, 90% of the people leave that style on the engine rather than change to the factory correct style.

You can buy a year specific Accessories Installation Manual in original / reprint which will give you the Dealer Installed A/C instructions on Ebay. Good investment for your build.

I’m going need something to figure this out for sure. I never seen a truck this vintage with ac before

Here is my little remedy for frozen brake drums. Tried and tested many times on 55-57 cars I have drug out of fields. It will turn the drum inside out and twist the shoes into pretzels but it has never been known to fail and gets them rolled up on the trailer.
