door speakers
I'm thinking about cutting my doors, (don't worry they're bascially junk) to mount my 6x9's I currently have in boxes under the seat. My question is for anyone who's done this, how did you run the wires? I plan to just drill a hole in the front edge of the door, but how to you get it from the door jamb to the stereo since there's no removeable kick panel to pull and run wires behind?

Re: door speakers
The PO cut the doors on mine for some 5.25 . What he did was drill a hole a little lower than halfway on the door and then drill a hole halfway on the doorjamb. After he did that he drilled a hole a little bit higher than that from in the cab somewhat close to the hole in the jamb. I was able to bend my speaker wires and fish them through the holes with a little bit of cursing... I think the easiest would be a good sized hole to put a boot on and a little hole in the cab to pull the wires.

Re: door speakers
I had to replace the wires the PO ran in my Burban. I started under the dash and there was one place the wire was able to slide into area behind the door jam. Then using an hook made out of a piece of mechanic's wire I fished the wire through the existing hole in the door jam. Twisting the wire around till I could see it made it fairly easy to catch with the hook. My holes were drilled like 67ChevroletDude's were.

Re: door speakers
Off set the holes in the jamb and the door vertically the same amount as the length of the wire that goes between them. Then when the door closes, the wire lays flat along the jamb not getting folded or pinched. Use grommets in the holes to protect the wires. Put some sort of weather shield around the speaker if you can find one.

Kick panels... doors... How do they relate? You put those in your doors? How did you run the wires?

Re: door speakers
special-K , they really do have a big difference in that the kick panels will blow all that vent air if you don't seal them , Im not a fan of speakers in the door , have patched a couple that had holes there .
