Led tails and fronts

So I’m not trying to promote one product over someone else’s or say that everything this company makes is great. But I’ve been running these lights for two years now and finally figured I would say something since I have enough time to make a fair judgment. United Pacific makes them and they come as lenses with the led boards installed and epoxy coated to protect them. Also direct plug into your original build socket. Anyways. First pictures are brake and flashers during day. Then running light and brakes & flashers at night. Just thought some may like to know how easy it is to been seen at night.

I actually inquired about his for the next truck, but after seeing them I actually think they are too bright, perhaps with a tinted lense or a resistor to give less voltage.

Re: Led tails and fronts

I have the same ones you mentioned in my truck since 2015 and yep they are great. No issues and nice and bright. I didn't realize they made front ones too. I have a 72 Chevy and will see if they make a parking light lens board for the 72's. Pictured is my truck with the United Pacific tailights and I also use LED bulbs for my back-up lights. I am also instaling the pictured United Pacific Headlights with an American Autowire Realy Upgrade Kit

Mine worked perfect when just the rears, when I put the fronts in I had to purchase the “LED” flasher they offer. It’s just a grounded electronic flasher, when you go led on all four corners you lose the bulb up front obviously and therefore don’t have enough resistance so you have to change the flasher for turn signals and hazards.

Yep, used the electronic flashers in both spots and grounded them to the dimmer switch. I put LED Bulbs in my front park lights but my front side marker lights wouldn't work and on the 72's they flash with the front park lights when you put on your signal lights. No one had a solution for this so I changed the front lights back to regular bulbs.. You should consider , if you havent already done it, putting LED bulbs in your dash. I used the pictured ones, got them from Amazon, and just reached up under the dash to change them .

I just screen shot Ebay to show the part numbers, lots of vendors. If you buy and install them, at first I didn’t notice but the socket that goes in place of the factory bulb has a slot in the middle for a large flat head screwdriver to twist it in

Re: Led tails and fronts

I went with “cool white” to retain a little bit of the green hue. But my cluster has been slightly upgraded out of necessity

Very slightly. They make dimmers for led specific bulbs. But to be honest I keep mine on the brightest setting. Being white and how our gauges are not backlit but reflect of the front of the housing. They are not blinding, especially with a neutral color

Re: Led tails and fronts

Glad I found this thread! I need to get some of these to upgrade mine.

Madkidd - Did you upgrade the gauges in your dash, or were those already done? I'm asking because I am wanting to put some gauges like that in my dash. I had to replace the pod set-up that previous owner had used. I'm wanting to do what you have... Aftermarket gauges in the stock location.

I did it about a decade ago, then when I did the cummins swap I modified it a little. 2 1/8 autometer electrics, Left 3 are ultra-lite, far right boost gauge is ultra-lite 2. Then a 3 3/8 in dash ultra-lite carbon fiber tach sunk in the middle. Used a hole saw to cut the metal behind the lens and had to file the bezel openings a little to get a snug fit painted the speedometer and fuel needle silver to match. Then made a harness to supply key power, ground, and lights from the auxiliary slots on the fuse panel. So nice to be able to clearly see all my gauges.

Re: Led tails and fronts

Thanks for the info! It looks like quite a bit of work. I won't get into it any more on here, just to keep from veering off course with the thread.

I do like the idea of the LED's, and they seem to be reasonably priced as well. Good to know that a few of you have used them for some time with good results.

Re: Led tails and fronts

So when I was on eBay screen shorting part numbers I decided to look at the tail lights again. Well found a pair never used for a good price and ordered them. Point is I can show the backside of them and how they are coated in epoxy. Now they’ll go on the shelf for 9 months to a year

I wish the LED taillights used the whole top to bottom with lights. Just looks kinda weird with half the area. I like all the other areas changed over but do wish the whole taillight was filled up.

Not really. It doesn’t look out of place and the lower acts as a reflector when the lights aren’t on. Stock just the top had a single bulb so it is the same effect.
