WTB: SBC oil dipstick and tube - see picture

Looking to buy a SBC dipstick and tube like the one pictured.

I'm not sure if this style of dipstick was on 1972 4x4's only, or if there were other applications.

The pictured dipstick is from a 72 K20 I restored a few years ago. I'm looking for an exact match to this dipstick, so the tube needs to have the mounting bracket that bolts to the exhaust manifold stud and have matching dipstick.

Thanks,
Miles

I'm not sure what was standard on 4x4's. My 70 K20 and my fathers 70 K10 both have the common short style tube with no mounting tab. My 72 4x4 was the only truck I've had with the long tube and mounting tab.

Your welcome, maybe someone will chime in with one. My old man may have it, but he lives an hour away from me and hes not able to check on it for me anymore.

I do believe that dipstick was a 4x4 only thing, longer to make it easier to reach on the higher 4x4's. But with that said, vans of that era may have the same or similar. Both 72 4x4's I've owned had them. Later models swapped to passenger side dipstick at some point. This dip-stick in good shape isn't easy to find.

Good luck in your search !

Undertaker72, I need one as well if you have multiple. Don’t want to hijack the thread.

These are in my opinion kind of hard to find I have three of them I really don't care if I sell one if you want to buy one I will sell you the one that has had the flange welded as they always break at the special stud because people won't use a backup 9/16 wrench when they undo the 1/2 nut, this also had a small crack down at the base where it goes into the block both was professionally welded and repaired if you want it you can have it for $105 shipped if using PayPal I would like fees considered

Thank you undertaker72, but I'm going to pass. I have access locally to a dipstick in similar condition (cracked/repaired), but I really want a good clean undamaged unit - like the bottom one you have pictured, as it looks clean from what I can see. So, wishful thinking I know, but I can continue to run my short dipstick until one turns up.

If you decide later on to sell one with no weld repair or damage... shoot me a PM please.

Thanks again
