Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
We had our yearly health fair last week down to Corporate Headquarters. They always have a drawing some door prizes and this year I won one of those cheap plastic rain ponchos that are little more than a trash bag with arm holes.
Our HR guy is named McCurdy and he's the biggest nerd you would ever run into, so I call him McNerdy. So when the list of prize winners was posted, I couldn't help myself-I immediately sent an email off to McNerdy and asked "Is that was a real poncho, I mean is that a Mexican poncho or a Sears poncho?" I don't think he got the connection, so in the context of this thread, I remind you of FZ:

Yeah, Overnight Sensation came out, I think, in '72. Maybe McNerdy knows what Frank meant by Amarillo Brillo... heh heh. Me & My Uncle is pure badass! The old Dead with Pig Pen was the greatest.
Then there was Europe '72

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Oh yeah. Both of those represent the time quite well. There is so much music from that time. I've been mostly putting up what I knew as more popular. I have and always had my own tastes/likes. This album with John Lee Hooker and Canned Heat getting together was no smash hit, but I was playing this a lot and it really takes me back to the time.
Another album Fleetwood Mac members did with some older "originals" in raw studio form was Fleetwood Mac in Chicago. I listened to this one a whole lot, too. And along the blues lines of that time I always think of Paul Butterfield Blues Band

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
Paul Butterfield Blues Band! OMG...
Muddy called him the 2nd best harp player in the world, after Little Walter. Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop on guitar...one of the first "integrated" bands, with Sam Lay and Jerome Arnold from Howlin' Wolf's band A little early, and pretty short, but this is what the stuff is supposed to sound like:

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
The thing was, Paul Butterfield was kickin' it out in '67 and on from there. Most of the music was from waaay before '67... technically, right? While we're on the early edge of the era
That Emerson, Lake, & Palmer song hit the nail on the head. I'm glad you other guys are putting up music. Those are songs that hadn't hit me yet. It's about "what was in the air" in that era. And that's no pun intended. There was more in the air back then than Mary And let me add this

I'm off to see Buddy Guy (with Jimmy Vaughn) tonight. Here's Buddy 50 years ago:
I've seen Buddy a few times over the years, but never have seen Jimmy Vaughn play. Dang it, never got see his little brother Stevie, either. Here they are just about a year ago:

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
The Young Rascals' "How Can I Be Sure" could cause a hip hugger snap or two to ... Oh yeah, the family is watching ! Kinda like...
Soften her up some more with this: If that didn't work you'd have to lay it on real thick... No? Might need an additive, some alternative substance... Diggit? Oh well. Sometimes you just have to put it all out there and take what you want!

I don't get into a Zepplin mood too often, but when I do it pretty much means the whole neighborhood is, too!
And here's a group inspired by that song, Trampled Under Foot, closing out a set with some Rock & Roll:

Re: Nudder Music Thread: 67-72 Music
It's Friday night so I better post something up. It wouldn't be 1970 w/o this song
I think Rare Earth thought they were the new Motown Probably because of Vanilla Fudge doing this song
