Drop spindles 67-72/73-87

Im in the market to buy 2.5 drop spindles for my 71 front disc brake c10. Was reading that I can purchase the 73-87 (CP4S4) spindles and just change the upper/or Lower ballpoint. I also replacing my 1.25 rotors. I guess my question is what is the benefit of using the 73-87 spindle. I'm already plan on taking everything apart so if beneficial might as well do the spindle upgrade. Any recommendations ot info is already well appreciated. Thanks in advance.

"Same control arms from 67-72.
Those spindles are 73-87 spindles.
They are cheaper because the balljoints and tie rods are cheaper.

All drop spindles (with the exception of CPP's modular spindles) are designed after the 73-87 spindle.
The tie rod holes and balljoint holes are just reamed different sizes.
This is why they can make a different spindle for all the years.
60-62, 63-70, 71-72, and 73-87."

Is going with a larger upper ball joint a good thing. Looks like I would also need to change the tire rods and sleeves to upgrade to 73-87 spindle

71-72 trucks make the swap to 73-87 spindles easier than the 67-70 trucks.
Change your upper ball joint and outer tie rod only. Lower ball joints are the same.
I see zero benefit in using 73-87 drop spindles over 71-72 drop spindles.
Same casting.
Just different tapers on the holes.
