today, i finally got my truck running again after several months of siting. got the fan shroud installed and the new heater core. after fixing several small leaks. she runs pretty well! shes smokin a lot through the exhaust from sitting but other than that its doin pretty well. she has new brakes also. check out the cleaned up under hood pictures...
first is a before picture. second is during. third and fourth are current.

Got my transmission dropped and the motor pulled today, now I am working 12 hours and I plan on sleeping tomorrow, and maybe firing up the powder coating before I come in and work another 12 hour shift.

Installed/finally got washer pump on the 82 working. Installed a new horn on the 96. Hauled some cement and fenching for the shop area. Sweat alot. Man the south is HOT!! and HUMID!!

I took my bed off and dis-assembled it.... its not much but its progress!

Some dude pulled in my driveway with a rollback. Asked me about my interest in selling the truck. I gave my typical "Everything I own is for sale at the right price". He laughed and said so $1000-$1500 wouldnt interest you. Well of course not.

i'm spending the next few weeks building kitchen cabinets.i imported freash-cut pine and oak 2years ago from new hampshire, and have been letting it dry and cure so now i've been milling it and building the cabinets using all mortise&tennon joints with glue and dowels,it's slow going but i've finally got the first one hung and am constructing the doors today,they're going to be oak trimmed with african mahoganey with either a brown leather insert or a white laminate insert(voting later this week)
anyway i have managed to create very large bags filled with sawdust so i won't be buying speedy-dri for some time

i got the bed off (by myself), cleaned 35 yrs of grease/dirt off the rear frame and rear end.Took a wire brush and about 10 wire wheels to the entire rear frame,and rear end.Hand sanded anywhere i couldnt get with wire wheels (even hand sanded)the coil springs.Primed and painted w/rustloeum black.Its not show condition by any means,but its gonna look alot better than it did. Still have the rest of the frame/body work and paint/and interior to do. jeff

Did this last night. Got the cab stripped down, ready to take to the sandbalster this week. I now have a floor full of truck parts!!! Also got the dent in the side of the cab from the accident pounded out, and the gas filler hole filled.

I got my TPI wiring harness trimmed down. Pulled the heater wiring, AC wiring, and fan wiring off. Makes it look a lot less intimidating now. I just have a couple of wires to sort out and I will be done with the harness. Then I am ready to go whenever FCG finishes my tank. I can't wait!

Still waiting for my new starter motor to be delivered so I can change it out so then I can go and get the back half of my now very holey and slightly missing exhausts replaced and actually start the damn engine when it's hot so I can get it off the ramp at the exhaust shop. Its a public holiday tomorrow as well so it ain't gonna get here until Tuesday...grrrr. (and after three weeks of lvely hot dry weather it's now raining and I have to work on my drive outside!)

Crappy before shot, it was hit so hard even the inner panel was bent, I had to cut it out to reshape it.

Didn't get to work on the truck today, but I did get the front hubs pulled off the '66 MG Midget (Da$n grease caps)as well rotors, and calipers pulled, pulled the tie rod ends and boots, installed new tie rod ends and boots, now I just have to put new hoses on the calipers and pads, new rotorsn and then start on the back brake system. It's all downhill from here!!

Finally got motor mounts built and the steering issues worked out (1.5" notched xmember caused the centerlink to hit lower A arm U bolt on drivers side) Wound up moving the steering box .25" up and .25" foward. Then mounted the idler arm (centerlink parallel to xmember and ground of course). I'll powder coat the new mounts later and put them in tomorrow. Next stop...Engine accessories and rear end flip/drop. Feels good to write this out. Progress baby, P-R-O GRESSSSSSS!

I figured out a way to adapt power brake booster & master cyl. from '80 C10 to my 68. now just need to find a clean way to put later model column in without looking stupid at bottom of cluster due to larger diameter. tommorow I fabricate a dolly for spare cab & load up scrap metal to help pay for needed repair panels.
Oh, BTW, I got back from sister's wedding & played very intensly with 19 month old son. most rewarding of all!!!!!

After spending yesterday building a shed to cover the blazer after the top comes off, I worked on making it run for a trip to get a rollbar installed. Today I replaced the fuel pump, leaking valve cover and exhaust manifold gaskets, sparkplugs, oil and filter, and wired the electric choke. Tomorrow I replace the leaking donut gasket and rework the carb linkage. Hope to be on the road again tomorrow. She's been sitting for about 9 months so its time. Feels good to make some progress.

The wife and I (along with a lot of help from fellow board members) got the rebuilt 350 started up in the 72. Feels good to hear it running. This was my first engine build up. It should be driving by the weekend

What are you using to hold the panel in place? They look like 1" square tubing with a bolt through them? I have seen them being used in pics before, but have never seen one up close. Could you please post or PM me a pic or two of one? I would like to make a few. Thanks!

I spent the week getting my 77 ready to go to the Texas Street Machine Nationals in Fredricksburg, Texas. This show has been around for 29 years in Waco, but was forced to move to anther location. It's new home is at the Lady Bird Johnson park in Fredricksburg. All I can say is Wow! what a great place to have a show. The park is awesome. Y'all mark your calender and plan to attend next years event, because t's going to be a killer show.

They had over 200 cars/trucks this year. The quality of vehicles was amazing. Bob McClurg the magazine photographer shot so many feature vehicles he was worn out. Look for event coverage in most of the truck magazines.

Ok, so the question is "how did I do"? Well I did just fine. I missed out on the top 10 trucks, but for a good reason. There were some "very" nice trucks there. I did pull off an Outstanding Paint award though. I was pretty pumped when they called my name out, then announced that my truck was the one everyone was talking about all weekend.

Needless to say I'm still running on high. What did Y'all get done....

Eastwood sells them but I got these off of ebay, they are a little lighter duty then the eastwood ones but are good. I was going to make some but for the price of them I figured I would rather spend some money then waste my time.

They work great, makes your work turn out 10 times better and easier.

Eastwood might have them on their website, they come up on ebay but I just looked and couldnt find any.
