Best way to temporarily fill holes in roof?
Previous owner had one of those sun visor things screwed into the roof of my truck (26 screws/holes to be exact.) Holes look like 3/16" or so. I want to seal them up so no moisture gets inside if I get caught in the rain. Any thoughts on how to temporarily close them? JB Weld? Silicone? Chewing gum? Silly putty? Any ideas are welcome. I was thinking of some small screws and putting silicone over them, but not sure at this point. Thanks!

my truck came from a fire dept so it had plenty of holes in the roof from antennas and lights....all that had been removed and had gobs of silicone in the holes....i would think screws,washers,and silicone would be a better temp fix

Not a fan of silicone caulk, I would use polyurethane caulk.

I'd go to your local auto paint supply shop and get some seam sealer it's made for sealing out moisture.

Since you said temporary - I'd go with a screw, a rubber washer under a same-size metal washer, and a very small bit of caulk on both sides of the rubber washer and some under the screw head. Should do until you get around to a metal repair if that's what you mean by temporary.

In hvac installs they use a very gluey aluminum tape, and it will last a couple.months.
I do service so I am not up on the install terms |

26 holes! That's crazy. I recently installed a Lund Moon Visor and it only took eight 1/4" screws.

Mine had a bunch of little holes too as it was a old brush truck, i just put in regular rtv silicone the stuff you use for doing intake/oil pan gaskets. That was over 10 years ago and its still holding. I always figured silicone would be the easiest to just pick out if you ever wanted to
