Drilled lots of holes in the replacement tailgate. Installed new trim and lenses. Getting there.

Nice! Any issues with the trim clips backing out?

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

I got the tailgate band from Classic Parts. Honestly the one from LMC was a Trim Parts product and it was nicer.

I used original clips on the tailgate trim and the repop clips on the tail light trim. By gutting the tail lights you can get to back side the tail light trim clips. To get to the tailgate clips it's a PITA. No backing out yet but it been all of 8 hours.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Disassembled the cluster, cleaned, painted the needles and reassembled cluster in to a new housing. Body worked, primed and painted both inner fenders. Put the roll bar to use after painting the hood hinges, the grill supports and window washer bottle bracket.

Yeah it had leaked before. The core connectors may just need to be brazed again once I get it out. But after almost 50 years, it’s probably toast. I’ve had the blazer for 20 of those with no issue with the core thus far.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Been working on my interior lately and after finishing with new door panels turned my attention to mounting the GM accessory 8 Track. Took more effort than I expected with gas pedal interference to overcome, but she's in there now and in the exact right location correctly reusing the left AC control screw as it should etc.

I don't know about you but one of my favorite things to do is do the job I already paid someone to do. Only thing worse is doing the same job over and over again. Painted the roll bar and a few other odds and ends the paint shop neglected to paint.

Isn't that a roll bar for a 73- newer? How does it fit in a first gen?

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

Like a glove. In fact I replaced the complete rear raised floor of the Blazer with a rust free floor from another Blazer and it must have had the exact same roll bar in because all the mounting holes lined up. Must have been a common roll bar. I can tell you if it's a factory GM, Hickey or a dealer installed aftermarket? Maybe someone here knows?

Wow. Not much left of the other one. That looks like a hickey rollbar to me. I’ve seen two versions though. One like yours and one where the leg bolts higher up in the middle of the wheelwell.

That's a factory roll bar out of a 73 up, I had one in my 71 years ago.

Thanks! Made some more progress this week. Got the rear hatch painted, weatherstripped and installed. Made the final adjustment on the door latches by adding one more shim to both uppers on the latches. Fenders hung. Going to paint shop for touch up final cut and buff.

Re: What did you do to your Blazer/Jimmy today?

'72 K5 4x4. Steering got really loose the other day while rolling down the road. Inspection showed severely worn tie rod ends. Replaced all tie rod ends and pitman arm linkage. Also found severely worn ball joints on the driver side. Replaced those as well. All of the components were original equipment, so I think we got our money's worth out of that stuff. Off to the tire shop for alignment, but inital drive test indicated like-new steering behavior.

Towed it to Tennessee in preparation for an upcoming move. We move next week. My garage looks like a pretty boring place right now!

Had steel caps that were chrome plated and stainless caps professionally polished by same company. Hard to tell which are chrome and which are stainless unless the light is just right. Both types have a mirror finish.

Painting these will be a bear - it's a lot of tape work. I wonder how GM painted these? Molds?
