'89 suburban before and after lift/tires/rims!!

89 suburban 1/2 ton 2wd now with a 3" fabtech basic lift which is new coils in the front and ball joint spacers. New 2" pro-lift lifted springs in the back.

32x11.5x15 BFG all terrain T/A
15" American Eagle rims

What do you think??


Thanks for all the help on the board during this!!!

I also rebuilt the front end completely during this job.

I had comments from friends that the pics look like a weigh loss commercial with the before pic in the shade and the after with a the sun shining on it...

That looks awesome! I'm doing the interior work first of my 86 before I do the tires/lift thing, so I'm curious: Why did you choose 32" tires? 33's dont fit? I just think for me, with a 3" lift, the 33's would fill the wheel wells better? How did the steering and drive respond to the front end rebuild? And lastly, How much did it cost you to do the 3" lift? Looks great!

The 33" needed 15x10 rims which were quite a bit more than the 15x8 american eagle 058 new from an ebay store for about $280. Plus, with the tires changing the final drive ratio, reducing breaking, and then needing a spare to match, I figured it was a good compromise. After doing it, the 33" would look a little better.

Great!! It made a pretty big difference. Plus my shocks were gone, so I see a big difference there w/ new ones. If you ever want to talk more about it (it was my first time to rebuild a front end (or even do leaf springs for that matter) I can give you my number.

the lift kit (fabtech 3" basic) was about $420 for the ball joint spacers, front springs, and 4 shocks. Then $260 for the 2, 2" lifted pro-lift leaf springs. I needed new springs so I went w/ that over blocks.

One problem I had though is the front end isn't lifted 3" I don't think. I'm going to post another message about this.

That looks great.

I am considering doing this to a 2wd lwb truck.

Got any links on where to get this stuff?

I would be happy with a 2" lift and 32s myself...maybe I could do it a little cheaper.

I actually bought the fabtech lift kit and 2" lifted springs from a local offroad shop. With shipping, buying it online was almost the same price (it was maybe a little bit cheaper, but only by $20 by the most).

Look for fabtech basic 3" lift.

The springs were pro-lift I think. Or pro-something...

Looks great, one of my next projects is to replace the rear leaf pack and install a 3 or 4 inch lift on my 88, I have a set of almost new Wild Country 33's just waiting to go on it.
