Seat belt buckle source
Are there sources for a 1972 (if it makes a difference) female seat belt buckle only without the strap? An internal piece broke in the existing female belt however, the rest of the seat belt is just fine.

Show some pictures of what you need, maybe I or someone else has a spare.

Re: Seat belt buckle source
The attached image has the broken part highlighted. I am not sure if that one part can be replaced.

Re: Seat belt buckle source
I don’t think that part is replaceable, I think I have some extra single green belts, if I do I could sell you one for $25 shipped.

Re: Seat belt buckle source
I will keep the offer of a replacement belt in mind. I would like to find either the broken piece, if possible, or just a buckle.

Re: Seat belt buckle source
You can have this buckle for cost of shipping $7.
Some pitting on chrome but not too bad, good working condition.

Re: Seat belt buckle source
A slightly different mechanism. I can only assume it would work with the cover that I have.

Kinda looks the same to me but you be the judge of that.
Let me know if you want it. Larry

Re: Seat belt buckle source
I would keep trying to find a good used one of the matching design you need here on the board. There are most likely many sitting around in guys parts collections that they are willing to part with to help you out.
If you are lucky the new reproductions or the other latch design will work with the male end of your existing belts. I found on the 88-98 trucks that there were two suppliers of the belts (TRW and Bendix) and their parts don't interchange. Very similar in appearance but just enough difference to not work together. Hopefully the slightly different design of the other latches the guys showed will work with your male end and you don't run into a multiple design compatibility problem. If you can't find one with the correct design to cannibalize for parts you might have to switch to the other latch design. Don't know what the new reproduction belt parts look like internally. Might be like yours or the other ones shown above but it wouldn't be the first time I bought a new part just to cut it up and use just a piece of it to fix something else.

Re: Seat belt buckle source
I have seen belts marked Robbins and Irvin, maybe the difference between the two is the latch mechanism? What name is on the white tag on our belts?

Mine is marked "IRVING IC 4500". No tag on it because the belt has been cut off. LockDoc

Re: Seat belt buckle source
OP’s belt is a Robbins, here is a pic of Robbins and Irving side by side.
You can have this Robbins belt and buckle for $16 shipped. |

Re: Seat belt buckle source
You learn something new every day. I wondered why my old buckle looked different than the OP's, and now I know.
Oddly, though, mine is stamped "IRVIN" instead of "IRVING". It has the same "IC-4500" though.

Re: Seat belt buckle source
I thought some were IRVIN too, now I will go out and look.
The buckle covers seem to interchange but the black buttons could be different, some don’t fit right in other buckles. I haven’t kept track of which are which, there just in a box of spares. |
