1969 6 Cylinder Power Steering All The Same?

I recently purchased a factory 292 truck with power steering that had a 250 swapped in at some point, I would assume all of the brackets and pulleys were swapped over as well but just wanted to double check that there are no differences between the power steering set ups for 6 cylinders. Thank you!

Funny that you should post this, I have a 69 truck with a 250 with PS. I'm getting ready to replace the 250 with a 292 and wondering if I can make the PS brackets work on the 292. Do you have any Pictures?

You guys should do a forum search for "292 brackets".

There are even posts from "old51sedan' on this subject from 4 years ago. ggg

There are probably more than one style of 250 brackets as there are at least two 292 styles. To me that didn't matter as I've never seen 292 brackets in person. Basically 292 brackets are unobtainable and guys selling them want ridiculous prices.

I took 250 brackets off a car and modified them to fit my 292. The upper part of the bracket has to reach up higher to bolt to the head, because of the higher block height.

The upper part of the bracket bolts to the head and the thermostat housing and must clear the 292 by-pass hose.

I simply made a horizontal cut through the bracket and reinstalled the complete assembly back on the engine. I fabricated a piece of steel to weld between the two pieces and cut clearance for the hose.

There are a couple of non-292 brackets shown, so don't be confused by them. The 292 bracket sits the pump higher and bolts to the head, the thermostat housing and directly to the water pump.

My 250 bracket adaption sits the pump lower than the correct 292 bracket, but has worked well for 15 years. A picture of mine doesn't help much as I ground the welds down and painted it so long ago.
