Re: My Facetruck thread.

WE must have got hit with the tail end of what Tim looks to have gotten head on. Rained hard here all day but the sun is starting to peak out now and the water is going down. Had a couple inches sitting on the ground a little bit ago.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Started raining around midnight and still was when I woke up. Then it really dumped it hard for another hour or so and let up. That's when my phone had an alert come across. Timing was a bit off there. My streams stayed within their banks. One across the road and one next to me. They flooded three times last summer. not this time. Must be a new alert system. Last week the same thing happened for the two counties and cloud burst I had just come through. That was a severe thunderstorm alert... and I had to agree. It sure "was" severe. My city, Frederick, at the western side of this watershed got flooded.

https://www.google.com/search?q=fred...upNOtcGlujKOsM

The pictures that look like a waterfall are Carroll Creek at Baker Park in town (where fireworks are done). That's the flood control they put in a few decades ago. Downtown usd to flood out, but there is a huge underground culvert you could put a road through and that's where it drops down. There is a gentle canal like waterway above ground with a prominad all along it

Want to hear all that again?

I think silverton is where we camped along a river, rode a train and drove down to mesa verde..

cripple creek and victor were neat towns to visit back in 70s-80s too..

never knew anything about riding out there.. other than four-legged kind

My wife and I were out here riding our bike a few years ago. Some gal gave her tickets so she and a friend rode the train into Durango.

We camped at Mesa Verde also. Checked out the cave dwellings and Petraglyphs.

They told us that Silverton has 27 days that they don’t have snow. It’s in July.

My wife and I alternate who picks the vacation each year. This time was my turn. So we went to Durango/Silverton then went to Mesa Verde national park then on to the south rim at the Grand Canyon. Finished the trip off driving through the Petrafied Forest and the Painted Desert.
We stopped at a diner on Route 66 in Williams Arizona. Great food and very cool vibe.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Beautiful countryside. The Lower Piedra is a great rafting trip for the family, I recommend teenage, depending on the conditions. One day trip. I love the Animas and Piedra rivers for rafting. I took that narrow gauge rail to Silverton once. I sat in one of the the cars and read a book. For some reason I remember the book, the Matterhorn... about Vietnam not the Swiss Alps. Funny the stuff you remember. Relaxing train ride.

That's my kind of trip.

I'm in Florida this week with my other daughter, and I have all the grandchildren here. I much prefer the hills and mountains. Besides every tourist in the world is here it seems.
