Hydroboost help needed.

Does anyone have any tips on getting the accumulator snap ring out of its groove? I've been soaking it in PBlaster, have pressed the accumulator in to relieve the tension, and have been tapping on the end of the snap ring with a small pick and hammer, but with no luck. It won't budge a bit that I can tell.

Re: Hydroboost help needed.

Figured it out. The gap in the snap ring was not lined up with the hole in the case. I drilled a new hole, pressed a punch through that to expose the snap ring, and popped it right out.

Here's a very good thread about rebuilding a hydroboost unit. You'll likely need to make a profile to view the pics, but they're well worth it if you're not confident in rebuilding a hydroboost. I signed up just for those pics.

Re: Hydroboost help needed.

IIRC The 1970's GM Light Truck Unit Repair manuals have info on rebuilding Hydroboost units. If not in the Unit Manuals it's in the actual manuals.
Lots of detailed info on these types of components in the older manuals that was cut from the newer ones.

RTFM... GM Parts Books, GM Schematics, GM service manuals, and GM training materials...Please include at least the year and model in your threads. It'll be easier to answer your questions.
And please let us know if and how your repairs were successful.
