Lifting a 2wd

I think this has been discussed before.

I am considering lifting the front of a 2wd to sit level with the rear (heavy duty springs) and fit 32's without rubbing.

I have spoken with Prerunner82 and he said that a front coil spring spacer 3/4" thick will raise the front of the truck approximately 2 to 3".

Has anyone done this? Where can I get these? I will look on ebay.

Also, anyone simply installed longer coil springs? If so, which ones?

OK, I found some 2" extended coils from Rough Country Suspension for $125.

Can I get something similar locally (that is hopefully less expensive)?

Maybe 3/4 ton springs or something...or are they the same length, with a higher rate?

3/4T springs are taller and have higher rate. I believe someone here put them in theirs.

My 80 Silverado sat low up front because it had stock coil springs for a small block. The weight of my 454 was too much for them. I ordered stock heavy duty coil springs..now it sits nice and level.

My build sheet shows heavy duty springs in the front and rear to begin with...I want to go higher possibly.

I'm not sure whether I have HD springs or not (doesn't say on my RPO sheet) but I WAS able to fit 32x11½ 15's with ease. Here's a pic of them on my truck:

What brand? Some brands will run different true hights. Offset allso effects. One of the CK5 guys was running 35's with a 2 inch lift and fiberglass front fenders.

Grim if you are talking about Michael Parker, i believe he had removed the lift and was just running 'glass fenders. I could be wrong, but look at the top pic (when it is white and not blue) then at the 2nd pic of when he sold it He was running the 3/4" spacer on the front end.

Ohh Yeah I rmeber him saying something about he removed the lift to improve the ride.

I want that look of that blue truck!!! My front end is sitting too low. When I rebuild the front end I'll make sure to get some springs like that.

Understand that it is goign to make it ride rough. If you want to really lift it go with a set of 3/4 ton for a 454 truck.

I like a firm ride but my 88 454 Burb is on the verge of harsh. It rides good with about 700lb of tounge weight and the WD bars on it.

Aren't big trucks suppose to ride rough? LOL!! I like a rough ride actually in my truck. That way I know I can feel what I'm driving over

So, do you guys think a small spacer with new 1/2 ton springs is a better way to lift it than using BB springs?

I have seen the 3" lift springs from Rough Country on ebay, but I think they might cause more problems with alignment and balljoints than I want to deal with...don't know yet.

I uaed a set of coils out of a 1ton non dually crew cab, with a 454..
Gave it arround a 2 1/2 or more, never put any bigger tires on it but would have fit 32's easy as pie!!! The guy that bought the truck dropped it back down and would probly sell the coils..
