Whoa! The grey and white color combination with detailed wood inserts looks fantastic! Nice work!

Thanks Green! I have really enjoyed putting it together...it's a bit of a franken-truck so I can do anything I please without regret of messing up a SPID. No SPID to begin with, title and frame from '70, most other parts are 72, mixed trim package, and I'm not getting into the make and years involved with the motor.

Noting like rubbing an old tailgate back into something to be fond of (she was pretty beat up, too bad I started the project before cell phones were found in everyone's pocket or I would have before pics)...

Re: Is it too early for Tailgate Tuesday

I agree with Green Monster, very cool and unique color combo! A clean shop often equates to clean work as we see here.

What fasteners did you use to attach the planks to the tailgate?

Thanks for the compliments on my OCD shop and the truck's color choice...most people scrunch up their nose when I say "Gray and White".

I used Round Headed Weldnuts. It was a bit of a trick to position them, but I thunk it out. I made the wood pieces with the holes drilled, countersunk on the face, used flat head socket screws to fasten the weldnut to the boards and put a dab of epoxy on the flat weld nut portion that touched the bare metal of the tailgate...positioned them, put weights on each board and let set. Once the epoxy dried, I was bale to remove the screws and boards, then weld the nuts to the tailgate...prime. paint, and reattach the boards.

Sorry about the pic below, it's funny how you can take a million pics and and yet not get it all documented well.

Re: Is it too early for Tailgate Tuesday

Better post these before Tuesday comes to an end.
One of my truck right after we "finished" restoring it. Then another right after I put a receiver in it. The last one is of them pushing my grandpa's blazer up to the auction block on Barrett Jackson
