WTH hood?

For the life of me, I cannot figure what I am doing. Everything else lines up, except what you see. ou cannot even push it down in back any further. Probably something simple I'm doing. This is the last thing I have left to do...at least for awhile. Any help is much appreciated, Kel

Re: WTH hood?

Stock frame, Stock frame with crossmember under the bellhousing removed (and has been run that way for a length of time) or S-10 or Subframed?

Meaning simply that if the cab isn't sitting right on the frame and or the front fenders aren't aligned perfectly the hood will never fit.

On the other hand here is a link to my Photobucket page where you will find the pages out of the factory service manual that detail how to adjust the hood..

Re: WTH hood?

Open your hood. Loosen but do not remove all your hood-to-hinge bolts. Don't forget to loosen the bolt that tightens from inside the cowl. Place a 2x4 block on the hood latch area and gently bring the nose of the hood down on that. The 2x4 will hold the nose of the hood slight ajar. Now using the flat of your hand push down on the rear of the hood at the cowl. You may want a helper to do the same on the opposite side. Tighten all the hinge bolts, starting with the one inside the cowl. Viola, you're done. Works like magic.

68Blackbird,
You'll get it figured out. Love the color of your truck. Have a pic of the whole truck?

Re: WTH hood?

I found that after 50+years of opening as high as the hood would go actually lowers the height tab on the hood itself. If this is moved back up into the hood it will allow the hood to come down onto the cowl as it should. I made a tool to fit over the tab and adjust it up. Some scrap metal, a hole saw and a mig welder -

Re: WTH hood?

It might be camera angle but the back of the cab looks low as it isn't parallel to the running boards in that photo.

This is a photo that I saved of someone's extended cab but you can see that the bottom of the door and cab are perfectly parallel with the running board. The style line on the fender is also parallel to the running board.
