1967 GMC Super Custom truck questions

I have a 67 gmc 1/2 ton super custom, factory v8, Th400, bucket seats, Tach, speed minder, air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, posi rear axle.
CE1590DZC1388A
From what I have seen most 67 gmc’s were v6 or l6, what v8 engines were available? I can’t seem to find much info.
It doesn’t look like it ever had a spid and the firewall was painted over so no chalk markings. I’m still looking for a build sheet if I could get that lucky, any idea where it would be on a bucket seat truck?

I pulled the seats and carpet and found this behind what was left of the gas tank cover

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom truck questions

I'm thinking that that will be a 327. My 68 is almost like your except no gauges[ it did have speedminder though] buddys and air plus 396. I added a tach vac dash and tilt and am gonna put it on a 1/2 ton swb frame and add a short box

I was thinking 327 as well but could have been a 283 and I was hoping for someone with a 67 data book or brochure could provide some proof of what was available.

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom truck questions

Yes, most domestic '67 GMC's were either straight 6 or V-6. Both the 283 and 327 became regular options in March of '67. This is why the V-8's are not listed in the sales brochures or early '67 data books.

'67 GMC's rarely had SPID labels (mine never did). If your engine is original, you might be able to identify it by the code stamped into the block deck surface just ahead of the right cylinder head.

Canadian '67 GMC's had V-8's the whole model year through, but didn't offer the V-6's.

Looks like a nice truck you have there!

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom truck questions

I'm glad to learn more about the '67 GMC V8s, Bob. Thanks. I only knew what I had heard. And that was the V8 became available later in the model year, but I thought that was only the 327. So I just learned something from someone whose GMC knowledge I trust in.

Re: 1967 GMC Super Custom truck questions

327s in these trucks in 67 all had the thermostat bypass. 283 did not. Easy way to tell if it's the original engine still in the truck. They were definitely available in Canada. That is a crazy nice truck for 67. Nice find

Thank you for the response!
The engine in it is a 350 so someone swapped it and i was wanting to figured out whether it is worth putting it back to stock.
It is such a high optioned truck and very low production number.

That’s good to know, my 67 C20 had the 327 with thermostat bypass. I was wondering if GMC did and if 1/2 tons did to
