Brake switch explanation needed.

Looking on rockauto(1987 v20 pickup), they show two different four-pin brake switches.

Can anyone explain the difference? Is there an internal wiring difference between these two?

I'm looking for a brake switch with both a normally open(N.O.) and a N.C. switch. It's for a non-factory application. It needs to function as a voltage divider for a brake signal to a 2012 body control module.

Probably just manufacturers differences.

I am using a universal harness on my 69 Camaro, and while replacing my brake switch I ran into the same things.

Since I have to modify the harness to get it to completely meld with the Camaro, and enable the heater.

I have practically memorized the factory wiring cut sheets at this point, and am waiting on a couple of small parts to start terminating the wires. For the first time for the last time. Right?

As much trouble as this wiring harness has been it fits my needs at $250 vs $1000+ that I was quoted for the mods I have made. Plus it will set me up nicely to get my van running too.

Spacing on the left most set of contacts looks closer on the white one compared to the black. Plus the whole post thing.

No clue why the two versions. Could be a mid year change or a difference in option packages.

Is that switch for a cruise equipped truck? If so, then it could well have the NO/NC pair. NO for the brake and NC to power the cruise throttle gizmo.
