Thinkin about parting out truck
I might be parting out my truck since I'm having trouble getting a title and I really need the money. It's a 72swb 4x4, tach dash, bucket seats. The motor is a 283 out of a 65 chevelle, turbo 350 trans (I think), and a np 205 transfer case. I really hate to do this but my options don't seem abundent. What kind of money do you think these parts can bring?

Parts will bring good good money if they are in good shape. Just remember when you are parting it out, take great care to not hack everything. And save everything...You never know what people are looking for. Sometimes the smallest insignificant part can sometimes bring good money. I have parted out some pretty decent vehicles in the past. If done right, you can make more on the parts than selling the truck as a complete unit. A friend traded me an all original 71 short fleet 2wd. Loaded, original big block, tilt tach a/c buckets (desirable parts on ebay that will bring some good cash) etc in exchange for doing some body and paint work. I have no money in it except some labor. I have no plans on building it....I think I can make out better parting it out rather than dumping money into it then selling it later for less than what was invested into the rebuild. You have to count your time too.

There`s alot of titles and serial#plates floating around. And alot of ol`junkers sittin` to be had for cheap.Short bed 4wd is a fairly rare and very sought after model.I geuss you`re saying time is the problem? You`re gonna be a while strippin`n sellin`.If you must sell, how much for complete truck?

If you're lookin to make some money and are not attached to the truck, part it out. People are lookin for the sought after rare model parts. Good rust free panels do pretty well. Only problem is shipping. Sometimes you have to accept the truck for what it is. It's a commodity. Do the math first then see how attached you are to it. I've done that in the past and realized I was money ahead by parting. Good luck with your decision.
