Dropping 69 c10 3/5
I’ve been wanting to drop my truck 3 in the front 5 in the rear , the question is would I need to do a C notch ? I’m really trying to avoid doing that .

No, it’ll be fine unless you haul a bunch of weight...mine is dropped 3 and 5 with springs only. |

I purchased a C10 with a similar drop without the C-notch in the frame. It rode terrible because of the lack of suspension travel. I did a bolt-in C-notch kit (also welded it) and the difference in ride quality was incredible!

This was how my truck sat with a 4.5 front, 6.75 rear drop. No c-notch, and rarely had bottoming out issues.

i have the 4/6 drop from ECE. bottom out the rear every now and then but not enough to c-notch it. I recommend ECE.
i've heard other people have problems using springs/kits from other brands though. (they sit lower) i dont see the downside of doing the drop, then c-notching if you have problems. |

I'm at about 3.5/5 with my drop. I bought a bolt-in c-notch kit but never installed it. I've loaded up the bed with junk to haul to the dump and still have yet to bottom out. I think I have about 3" between the axle and frame which seems to be plenty if you are careful.

Ive had a 3/5 drop and this is what I learned from it. If u have the trailing arm set up...use drop blocks at least 4 part of it. I used just the drop springs and it wasnt that great of a ride. Get quality shocks. Dont settle for the cheaper sets. Your back will thank u. Use shock relocation kits. This will give more of the stock travel. The drop shocks are stiff due to limited travel and it shows when u drive it. Measure down with a ruler and u can c just how close the bump stops get to the rear end . U can go up 2 7 inches of drop but u may want to trim the factory stops for more clearance. Where u live has alot 2 do with it 2. If the roads u travel are smooth it's not as noticeable but get on a ruff road and it wont take long to find out just how good your kit is.
Take Matt's blue truck for a good example. It has a well made system under it. So it gives a good ride and good handling as well. Good luck in what ever system u choose. |

3 5 was no problem without the notch. Rode for years that way until I went to 5 7 and put in the notch.

Are the numbers you guys are posting including drop spindles or stock spindles?
Iv got CPP 2 inch drop spindles but from what iv read, its actually 2.5 inch drop so id like to know so I can see what mines would look like |

2.5 drop spindle with 1 inch drop spring up front. 5 inch drop springs out back.

I didnt like the ride but....the kit I had used drop shocks. They were stiff and that caused the ride to b somewhat ruff depending on the rd and how smooth it was. If u get better and longer travel shocks it would b fine. Yes I have a pic but I cant get it to upload 4 what ever reason. I will try again but if it doesnt load,shoot me ur email and I will send it that way. Ive got it apart now rebuilding the whole thing

Just redid the springs and added spindles. Rear 5" Belltech springs. Front 1" Belltech springs and 3" drop spindles. I think I am going to install the 2" drop springs in the front to get the front tire wheel well gap a bit smaller.
Nitro drop 2 shocks, relocation for rear shocks and no c-notch. |
