Do I need to paint tailgate arms and hinge

May be a dumb question but I just bought new tailgate arms and hinges for my flletside bed. When I bought them I think they said they were zinc. Do they need to be painted or can I leave them steel?

Factory was painted but I don't see why you could not leave the as they are since they are zink coated.

Thanks for the quick reply. I would like to paint them but I am doing the paint myself and seems like the paint would wear off pretty quickly from opening and closing tailgate

Thanks. Clearcoat may be a good option so it doesn't show wear
