Wiring gurus please come in
Must preface, everything was switched to LED.
Weird gremlins going on. So, when pulling the headlight switch. Everything works. parking lamps, headlights, front and rear side markers, and taillights all illuminate Pull the hazards, the front two side markers go off, they come on on my dakota digital display, and just the driver side tail lamp. The passenger side does not blink?!??! I have both the new LED flasher with grounds connected on the fuse panel. This is also a new brake switch. What also is odd, I have no blinkers either. I checked a few links on the board with search, but this is a head scratcher. I cleaned the half moon connector with QD cleaner already to rule that out. Any ideas?? |

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Get a cheap tester and make sure you have 12v at each socket when on or signal is sent.
If you have 12v. Then check Grounds. I’m not an LED guy so don’t have input on the flasher type and LED lights info. Either way always check for positive at the socket. Make sure to use a known good ground on the tester Posted via Mobile Device |

LEDs are polarized. You must have the positive lead of each lamp on the hot [+] side.
Tungsten filiament incandescent bulbs can go either way.

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Well I'm getting power to the light, since the headlight switch is powering it on. It's just not blinking with hazards. And the blinkers are not coming o . Definitely have power though

I forgot to also add, that when I hit the brakes, the side that blinks with a hazard comes on the other side does not

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
What kind of LED's are you talking about. Pictures of what you have. They don't like having polarity swapped at all anywhere in the electrical system.

Basically the led replacements for taillights and side makers. The ones where the led board is epoxies and the connectors fit into the std bulb socket.
On here are a few pics. On a side not the pic where I'm holding the black piece. That came with my flasher. I've no idea if its needed |

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
The black piece goes on the flasher to change polarity. Try it, it may fix it.
Another suggestion. Take everything back off and start over with one light fixture at a time. Check each one to see if it works through all the conditions you described before. If it does then add another until it stops working. That should narrow it down for you but hopefully the flasher polarity part will fix it.

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Ok it worked for the blinkers! I tried doing the same to the flasher up top but then the hazards up top stopped.
So status as of now is the rear passenger brake light and the hazard doesnt light up. Tailamp works with headlight switch. So progress |

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode They do not have a light bulb in them, they are diodes. So electricity only goes thru them in one direction. When working on the Hazards try disconnecting the rear light harness. Then you are only working with the front turn signals. You may need to remove the side marker bulbs too.

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Hazards are working with the reverse polarity.
What still does persists is the rear passenger still no blinker, hazard or brake light. Only thing working is the headlight switch for night time at that location |

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Can you put the old bulbs back in the rear and see if it works. I will just about bet you have the wires crossed up some where going to the back.

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Yep, same results. I assume its the drk green wire in this schematic?
Whats strange is, nothing is spliced. I bought the harness new. So on the left side which is working there is a yellow wire. Both of these terminate into the half moon. Which is the connection into my steering column where the turn signal is. What am I missing? |

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Ok im getting closer.
With the hazards on, I pierced into the half moon on the yellow wire and it was hot. Im getting no light at the green. So, my assumption is somewhere on the green lead. I just need to trace. Ill come back once I figure it out (hopefully) |

Makes no sense to have juice all the way at the connector, and the taillight will not emit a blinker, hazard, or brake light. |

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
You need a multimeter or VOM. One that has distinct Red for positive and Black for negative leads. The old light to ground with a pointy end type probe is obsolete for circuits with discrete polarities.

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
I might have found the issue. I pulled the rear taillight housing and jacking with harness and it started to blink. So either I have a short in the harness or something. Cheap ass Chinese harness I'm sure

I buy M&H harnesses and worry about other things. Made in USA.

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
The tail light's ground through the housing so make sure the 2 screw have good metal to metal contact.
Glad your making head way on this.

Re: Wiring gurus please come in
Thanks everyone for their replies. It turned out to be the housing and the connector of the led light. It would fit but very loosely. Light kept going out with just the headlights on. So, I wound up cutting the connectors off and just tied them into the rear harness. Problem solved.
