I swapped my 6 cylinder over to a big block late last year.
A word of warning: make sure you're ready to do this, because it's not for the faint of heart. The nuts and bolts is real easy. It's like a good weekend project. It's finding the parts and paying for them that's bad. Expect to pay 400 plus dollars for the pulleys, brackets, and mounts. Then, a larger radiator and a proper big block fan shroud. The big block will need either exhaust manifolds or headers and an all new exhaust system. Some belts and hose, gaskets, etc.. will kill another 100 bucks by the time you buy antifreeze, a fan, accelerator linkage, air cleaner and all of that.

If you just want a big block and are not concerned with originality, use parts from a 73 up truck...cheaper and much easier to find. 73 up towers [even smallblock] are very similer to 72 big block towers and will bolt in with minor shimming. 73 up pulleys and brackets will work.....you just have to use one or the other...you can't mix and match

I have a pair of towers out of a 1970. Cleaned and painted. 100.00 plus the ride.
