C20 Cab Mounts
Still putting together my 1968 C20, I am completely in love with this truck and so I have started to notice little things, like the body lines between the cab and the bed do not line up. Got it on the hoist and sure enough, the mounts are absolutely destroyed/rotted away.
I'd like to replace them, but have never done something like this before. I know that people have lots of opinions about replacing rubber bushings with urethane, going stock or going better than stock, etc etc. Is there a supplier other than LMC that you guys would recommend (theirs are on "backorder")? It'd be pretty convenient to find something like this on Amazon, but I know the C20 mounts are specific and its not likely I will.

Re: C20 Cab Mounts
I'm also interested in this. I'm no expert, but I usually like OEM parts. A lot of folks on here have differing opinions about it, but I'd be interested in some polyurethane mounts, too. There are kits for C10's out there, not sure about C20's. Maybe I just need another truck to compare rubber vs poly

Re: C20 Cab Mounts
Here is a reference of my expereince with changing the body mounts on my C20. The bed and cab do not line up on the passenger's side. Haven't really looked into why.

Re: C20 Cab Mounts

The bad thing about the poly is that they are hard and transfer all shock loads to the entire cab. GM used rubber because they absorb the shock loads and make for a softer ride in the cab. Granted the "new" rubber stuff doesn't last like it should, but I would still choose it over the poly. Just my 2¢ worth..... LockDoc

Re: C20 Cab Mounts
Thanks for the input, I would likely go rubber, a C20 needs all the ride it can get.
Anyone recommend a supplier? As I said LMC has it backordered.

Re: C20 Cab Mounts
I never got around to replacing these, this past summer, but I am still hoping to find cab mounts for my C20 because I am definitely doing it this winter.
GMC Paul - as far as I can tell from searching the site - only offers mounts for half tons. Unless someone can recommend a supplier for rubber C20 Cab Mounts I will be forced to order the polyurethane ones from LMC, just asking one more time to see if someone knows of a good supplier. Love this site, any help would be appreciated. LMC's: https://www.lmctruck.com/1967-72-che...nt-bushing-set

Re: C20 Cab Mounts
I'd recommend rubber mounts from classic heartbeat. They are a complete kit, and bolt right up. They also appear to be quality rubber.
For others who might be on the fence regarding rubber or poly, I'm not sure poly would be a benefit in this case. The cab is not part of the suspension system. It's like making the bench seat springs stiffer to improve handling. Better to put the effort into somewhere else to improve the ride/vehicle dynamics. |

Re: C20 Cab Mounts
I went with ones from Classic parts . Thought the cab was too high after I installed them but it was just I was used to the worn out ones . Looking at others the bed lines up well. Not sure of the ride yet as I'm still working on the truck. I went with rubber c20s need all the cushioning of the cab they can get.
Was very easy to replace just put a piece of 4x4 on a Jack and lifted one side at a time. Your mileage may vary as this truck has very little rust on it. I reused the original hardware as the new bolts were different.

I have not had a chance to compare the two, but: what reason would there be for the C20 mounts to be different from those on a C10, if all they do is keep the body off the frame? Is it just because the box needs stronger/thicker ones for hauling... meaning that you need the same for the cab and rad in order for body lines to match?

Re: C20 Cab Mounts
My view about poly mounts are not for suspension capability its last longer then most new rubber mounts
I have a set in my 68 more then 25 years The rear cab frame mount is at a different height on a c10 then c20 or k series |
