Hey all. I know there used to be plenty of really good threads about changing saddle tanks and I searched but I can't seem to find them; where'd they go?

I'm going to be changing out the tanks on my '81 in the next couple of days. The driver's side tank is already out but it was a buddy of mine who removed it so I'm not sure which line goes where now that it's my turn to hook a replacement up. Also, we cut the lines to get the tank out, is that going to cause any headaches?

Any tips/advice are appreciated (including "go search!"

just get new lines in the right ID, u can't mix up the lines, there is 3 differnt sizes, just match them up.

tank doesnt matter which side it goes on either, just make sure it has the right filler on it.

I can't believe what a pain in the neck it was to find a filler hose for this. Kinda wish we hadn't cut the original to get the tank out. Now I'm stuck with hose that's a little on the small side which is making it tough to work onto the upstream fitting from the tank. Oh well. just takes a little longer I guess (er..hope).

Hey Greg -- I've got a 3 spare saddle tanks (one has a hole in the side) you can have if you want it. My brother works in Calgary, and he could probally fit it in his trunk to take it south... The one is here at home already, the other two are still on my parts truck, and I'd have to pull em off sometime...

If you wanna help me out at all, I'm lookin for a K-5 parts truck to get the fuel tank, and mounting cross members off of for my truck... The saddle tanks would be free

Hiya Russel. Thanks for the offer of the tanks but I already found one from Jeepstuff that looks like it should do the trick. All that's left for me is the wrestling match to try and get the sucker into place.

As for the K5 parts, check out www.4wheeler.ca , there might even be someone in your neck of the woods. If I happen on a K5 I'll see what I can do.
