Sectioned crossmember 73-87
It’s been a good few years since been on here but project is getting started again. There was a man selling already fabricated custom sectioned crossmembers and other c10 specific bagged parts. I believe somewhere east coast. Anyone remember who that was?

Re: Sectioned crossmember 73-87
Don't know who sold sectioned/pancaked x-members on the East coast.
Turner Enterprises used to sell them out West years & years ago (like 20yrs). I know where there's one sectioned 1.5" in DFW area.

It might have been mid west area. He also sold no pump steer tie rod ends and custom adjuster sleeves. Bagged long bed truck with Steelies and a latter rack in the back.
How much you think for the one in DFW area?

Re: Sectioned crossmember 73-87
Yep. That's a 10hr job for a cleanly modded x-member that's ready for install.

There may even be a forum member around your area that does them. They are pretty involved, but not that hard. |

When I reached out to Turner Ent. back around 2000, his price was $350 plus the cost of freight. Given what the mod can help with, I had an idea & tried doing one on my own. I bought a welder & plasma cutter. It took some time & I learned some things. I subsequently did more of them w/the goal to do enough to pay for the welding machine. I accomplished that goal. I used to keep one of each done (63-72; 73-87) but they took-up too much space.

Re: Sectioned crossmember 73-87
Exactly it is not hard. Any competent weld shop. Any competent shop can do the work. It just takes time to make it look factory.

Re: Sectioned crossmember 73-87
Scoti yours looked better than mine that's for sure. I loath grinding so I just try to make the welds look nice and the new owner can do what they want. If you have a plasma and aren't cleaning it up after I can see it done in 5-6 hours.

Also.... I clean up front & back for the ones going under my sheet metal. The one in that pic got just the front cleaned-up. The back just got a dusting from a flap wheel & then Scotch Brite wheel. I leave it up to the buyer to finish out the area that can't be seen.
